To continue the series, here’s my list of some talented under the radar #TN2024 standouts in Shelby County.
rnAt the top of my list of notable performers is Jyshawn Anderson Jyshawn Anderson 6’4″ | 175 lbs | WR Millington | 2024 State TN , a wide receiver at Millington High School. In addition to electric speed off the snap, Anderson impresses me with his ability to quickly position himself for the catch as well as his ability to break tackles on his way to the house. I also like how Anderson can utilize his strong footwork to pick up speed and create seperation down the stretch, proving his physicality and versatility in coverage.

rnI am additionally impressed with Kylon Dupree Kylon Dupree 5’9″ | 175 lbs | WR Southwind | 2024 State TN , a wide receiver at Southwind High School. What stands out most about Dupree is his ability to escape the defense in coverage and attack the ball in the air. Another facet of Dupree’s playstyle that impresses is his ability to get open in the endzone and consistently haul in challenging touchdown passes. I also like Dupree’s ability to be a quick target for his quarterback off the snap as he showcased his ability to make quick catches and utilize the edge to push into enemy territory.

Highlights
rnClaiming the number three spot on my list is Jaylon Smith Jaylon Smith 6’0″ | 200 lbs | LB Sheffield | 2024 State TN , a linebacker at Sheffield High School. What makes Smith so explosive is his ability to quickly overwhelm the offensive line and apply pressure on the quarterback. I also like how Smith can catch the offense by surprise and force the occassional turnover. Another aspect of Smith that stands out is his ability to catch the running back in the pocket and from along the edge, showing off his ability to protect the backfield.

rnAnother skilled prospect is Jabari Jackson Jabari Jackson 6’0″ | 170 lbs | DB Germantown | 2024 State TN , a defensive back at Germantown High School. In addition to outstanding versatility, what impresses me about Jackson is his ability to read the offense like a book, win the one-on-one in coverage and capitalize on poor passes. Jackson also showcased his ability to position himself for the interception, proving he can pick off the quarterback and put his team in solid field position with his explosive quickness.

rnComing in at number five on my list is Kaiden Hendrix Kaiden Hendrix 6’5″ | 210 lbs | DL Arlington | 2024 State TN , a defensive lineman at Arlington High School. What stands out about Hendrix is his physical edge and ability to pick up speed from along the edge to stop the rush. I also like how Hendrix can protect the backfield from the pass, showing off his ability to quickly drop receivers after the catch. Another aspect of Hendrix that impresses me is his ability to read the short pass and quickly pounce on playmakers off the snap.

rnAlso worth mentioning is Max Williams Max Williams 6’1″ | 190 lbs | DB MUS | 2024 State TN , a defensive back at Memphis University School. Williams impresses me with his athleticism and playmaking ability, proving he can read the quarterback like a book and pick up speed to jump in front of the ball at the last second for the pick. Williams also made a difference with his ability to break tackles as well as dodge and weave contact en route to the endzone. Williams also made his presence known as a receiver, using his versatility to consistently escape the defense and get open for touchdown passes.
rnAnother playmaker that made his presence known last season was Durrell Miller Durrell Miller 5’9″ | 180 lbs | DB Whitehaven | 2024 State TN , a defensive back at Whitehaven High School. What I like most about Miller is his ability to read the pass in the backfield, showing off his defensive awareness and his ability to jump in front of receivers to haul in interceptions. Miller also proved he can take the ball the other way, marching past the defense from along the edge to blast into the endzone. Miller also impresses with his ability to adapt to the short pass off the snap and keep the opposition out of the redzone.

rnI am also impressed with Jonathan Farris Jonathan Farris 6’1″ | 300 lbs | DL Bartlett | 2024 State TN , a defensive lineman at Bartlett High School. Farris makes a difference defensively with his ability to slip past openings in the pocket to contest the quarterback as well as stop the rush. Farris also impresses with his ability to overpower the offensive line, proving he can apply heavy pressure on the gunslinger and consistently catch the offense by surprise. Another aspect of Farris that impresses is his ability to pick up speed off the snap to catch the running back and keep the opposition out of the backfield.
