Chelsea finished the season with an impressive 9-2 record. They came up just short of a district title loosing to a very strong Haslett team. One big highlight of the season was defeating arch rival Dexter. The season started off with a loss to Grand Rapids Northview but the took a turn for the better as they won 9 games in a row after that.

Notable Players

Ethan Collins | DB | Hudl

Collins has exceptional ball skills and made a lot of plays this year. He has fluid hips and has no problem turning and running when the ball is in the air. He had a great game in the win over Dexter, creating key pass breakups that prevented big plays. Collins is a good tackler who does a great job of of taking proper angles.

Luke Webster | LB | Hudl

Webster has great pursuit and is always getting to the football. He is a good tackler who is strong at the initial point of contact. He plays fast and does a good job of always working to get into a position to make an interception. Webster has a lot of experience on the varsity now and will return next season.

Memorable Comeback Win Over Trenton

Chelsea had one of the best comebacks I have seen in a while. They trailed 14-3 to Trenton with just under 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter they were able to score 14 unanswered points to win 17-14 in overtime. This win had to feel sweet since they had the lost to Trenton the previous season.

Continuing Their Winning Ways

This marked the 10th straight season Chelsea qualified for the state playoffs. This continues to be one of the strongest programs in the state. They recently won a state title just two season ago.

More Players That Stood Out

[player_tooltip player_id='407321' first='Seth' last='Anstead'] | OL/DL | Hudl

Anstead has been one of the key players for this Chelsea team for many seasons. He is very competitive and always performs at a high level each and every game. Anstead was dominate this season on the offensive line showing the versatility to play guard and center. Anstead certainly stands out with his size and he is definitely one of the first guys teams notice when Chelsea is warming up.

Tyson Hill | RB | Hudl

Tyson Hill had a very good year and was effective running the ball. Hill made an outstanding catch on a successful two-point conversion play that put Chelsea within 3 points. I first watched Hill play last season and was very impressed by how hard he ran. He has great burst and can get yards in a hurry. I like that he does not have much wasted movement and makes cuts with a purpose strictly to get up field.

I have enjoyed watching Chelsea football the last three years I have got the privilege to cover them. I expect them to be very good once again next year and be contender to win a state title.
