This year, players came from a record 8 counties – Mecklenburg, Union, Cabarrus, Gaston, Cleveland, Lincoln, Iredell, and Stanly counties. The West Team ended up winning this year’s edition of the game 21-14 for a 3-2 all-time series lead. However, there were impressive players on the East team that we want to highlight in the last game of their high school careers.
Christyan Washington – Forest Hills – Wide Receiver – Offensive MVP
With 4 catches (including a one-handed catch) for over 100 yards and a touchdown, Christyan was named overall Offensive MVP for the bowl game. He repeatedly was able to get open using excellent footwork and great speed. He is committed to playing at Charleston Southern University on the next level.
Jay Jackson Jay Jackson 6'1" | 215 lbs | LB North Stanly | 2024 State NC – North Stanly – Defensive End/Running Back
Jay scored a rushing touchdown from 8 yards out in the first half showing his overall physicality and versatility to do several things on the football field. With his size/speed combination, Jay has continued to receive college interest from multiple schools. He is not committed to a school on the next level at this time.
Sammy Washington Sammy Washington 6'1" | 190 lbs | DB Butler | 2024 State NC – Butler – Cornerback
Sammy got the Queen City Senior Bowl off with a bang, intercepting a potential touchdown pass for the West Team in the end zone, setting the tone for an exciting, back-and-forth matchup. Sammy has several offers to play football at the next level, however, he has not committed to a school at this time.
Jatavien Taylor – Porter Ridge – Linebacker
Coming into this game, Jatavien started to see his recruiting pickup with offers from Winston-Salem State and Fayetteville State coming in after being named to play in the bowl game. Jatavien was all over the field, making tackles and breaking up passes for the East defense. He has not committed to a school at this time.
Steven Muin Steven Muin 6'3" | 205 lbs | LB Rocky River | 2024 State NC – Rocky River – Defensive End
Forcing at least two turnovers from his defensive end spot, Steven had a strong showing for himself against some really good players. He received an offer from Louisburg the week of the bowl game, and they observed him at practice. With his size and skill set, I think a school could get a steal with this young man. He has not committed to a school at this time.
