The guys in this article made All-State in football but are also STUD basketball players….
Congrats on making All-State in football and best of luck in the hoops season!
AAA All-State Football Team
Jack Shaffer Jack Shaffer 6'7" | 320 lbs | OL Bismarck | 2025 State ND (2025) 6’7″ Bismarck
Football: 1st Team All-State at OL
Basketball: BIG jack is a monster on the court, he has no trouble creating space around the basket. It is easy to see why he is a D1 football recruit. I am impressed with how hard he works/runs the floor for such a large fella. Shaffer is a workhorse on the offensive glass. He is strong but Jack scores with a soft touch. On Friday against Sheyenne, Schaffer scored 8 points. On Saturday, Jack scored 8 points and grabbed 8 boards in the 99-74 win over West Fargo.
Logan Conklin Logan Conklin 6'4" | 175 lbs | WR Minot | 2024 State ND (2024) |6’5 F| Minot
Football: 1st Team All-State as WR & State Champion
Basketball: Conklin and the Magi are ranked #3 in the State Polls and they are 2-0. They took care of business this past weekend against the Packers and Mustangs from West Fargo. So far on the season, Logan is averaging 21 ppg and 10 rpg. Not a bad start to the season! I love Conklin’s heart, energy, and moxie. He gives 100% effort on both ends of the floor. Logan showed off his bounce on Saturday with an athletic 1-handed SLAM. Expect many more of those this winter. Conklin is an active cutter, a versatile finisher, has great hands, and he flies up and down the court. I will not be surprised when he is also All-State in basketball.
Carter Henke Carter Henke 6'2" | 195 lbs | LB Bismarck | 2024 State ND (2024) |6’1 G| Bismarck
Football: 1st Team All-State as RB
Basketball: Henke is a starter for the Demons and he is one of the top shooters on the squad. Carter showed off that sweet stroke on Friday with three triples, Henke scored 13 points on opening night. He is a strong and tough player who leaves it all on the court. Bismarck is going to win many games this season and Carter will be one of the key players for the Demons. Opposing teams need to account for Henke when he is spotting up around the arc, if you overplay him, Carter can put it on the floor and make positive things happen. Henke also makes things happen on defense with hustle and anticipation.
Sam Fedorchak (2024) |6’0 G| Bismarck St. Mary’s
Football: 1st Team All-State at DB
Basketball: The Saints have not played a game yet, they open up tomorrow night vs. Shanley. Sam will be a starter and one of the lead guards for the Saints. He is a gifted athlete and that was evident this fall in football. Fedorchak averaged 5.3 ppg, 3.3 rpg, and 1.1 apg last season, expect those numbers to vastly improve this season. He will stand out on the defensive side of the ball this winter, Sam will also make plays off the dribble and score at the rim. Look for Fedorchak and Chris Benning to be the top Saints and leading producers this season on the hardwood.
Rustin Medenwald (2024) |6’2 SF| Mandan
Football: 2nd Team All-State
Basketball: I did not get a chance to see Medenwald play this weekend, but I heard reports that he played well. Mandan gave North all that they could handle on Friday night but they came up one basket short. On Saturday, the Braves stuck it to the Deacons. This Mandan team will be legit and Rustin will be one of their go-to guys. Last season, Madenwald averaged 11 ppg, 5.7 rpg, and .8 apg. There is no doubt that those numbers will shoot up. He was highly productive on the glass last season and that should continue this year. He is a high-percentage shooter and an opportunistic scorer. Rustin is in for a great year of hoops.
Kaden Christmann Kaden Christmann 6'0" | 190 lbs | ATH Fargo Shanley | 2024 State ND (2024) |6’1 G| Shanley
Football: 2nd Team All-State and State Runner-Up
Basketball: This explosive athlete is committed to MSUM for football. Kaden is regarded as one of the top defenders in the EDC. You never have to question this kid’s effort, Christmann plays his tail off. On most nights, Kaden will lock horns with the opposing teams top player. On offense, Kaden can score via penetration to the rim, he can also knock down the mid-range J. If he can hit consistently from beyond the arc, Kaden will be a problem. I am looking forward to watching Christmann matchup with some of the top EDC players this winter and see if he can shine. It is always fun to see a stout defender play a chess match against a lethal offensive baller.
Isiah St. Romain Isiah St. Romain 6'1" | 170 lbs | WR Williston | 2024 State ND (2024) |6’3 G| Williston
Football: 2nd Team All-State
Basketball: He was All-State in hoops last season and averaged 22.7 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 3.3 apg. St. Romain is committed to NDSU for football, so this will be the last season of basketball we get to watch the explosive athlete from Williston. Isiah will be back at it this year as one of the best players in the state, will fill the stat sheet, and make many highlight reel plays. Make sure you take some time to watch St. Romain this season, he is a special player.
Nick Hasbargen (2024) |6’1 SF| Fargo Davies
Football: 2nd Team All-State
Basketball: He is a blue-collar baller, a grinder, hustler, and physical role player who will do whatever coach Manson asks. The Eagles always seem to be good and a big reason for that is the buy-in that they get from their players. Nick will lockdown on defense, out-hustle you, dive on the floor, work on the glass, set solid screens, share the ball, and score at the rim. Hasbargen will not put up crazy numbers this winter but he will have an important role for the Eagles as a defender and glue guy.
