FHSAA State Championship Game-Changers
Dallas Golden Dallas Golden 6'1" | 165 lbs | ATH Tampa Berkeley Prep | 2025 State FL | ATH | 2024 | Berkeley Prep | @DallasGolden8
championship stats: 23 rushees – 183 yards – 1 TD | 2 receptions – 38 yards – 1 TD
The man on a mission this week goes to Dallas Golden Dallas Golden 6'1" | 165 lbs | ATH Tampa Berkeley Prep | 2025 State FL who seemingly took over the game for his team from the first whistle. Golden gave his all in a huge 28-20 upset win for Berkeley Prep which saw the Buccaneers earn their first state title trophy against one of the national high school programs in Miami Norland. Congrats to Golden, the coaching staff, and community.
Demarius Rucker | RB | 2024 | Lakeland | @Dee3_Rucker
I’m not sure if there was a more dynamic rusher throughout state championship weekend than Dee Rucker who looked like a young Chris Rainey for the Dreadnaughts in a 60-48 win over Venice. Rucker earned himself a FAMU offer immediately following his 200+ yard rushing performance against a tough defensive program. Great job by the senior who battled injury adversity to earn some hardwood before graduating.
Joseph Troupe | RB | 2024 | Berkeley Prep | @JojoTroupe
championship stats: 23 rushes – 124 yards – 1 TD
This kid is the definition of a DOG! What a way to impact the game and provide a needed second spark for the Buccaneers’ offense that was rolling from the jump. Troupe put his name on the map because of his tough running efforts throughout the game. No other play was bigger than when Troupe took an RB draw for 18 yards to move the chains on a pivotal third down play that would have given Norland the ball with time to work. I’m sure Troupe just landed his spot on a college roster just from game film of his state championship performance.
Malik Morris | ATH | 2026 | Lakeland | @MalikMoriss43_
We have found a true Power 5 recruit and guaranteed playmaker at the next level in Lakeland’s 2026 Malik Morris. Who knew this kid could run the ball so effectively? Head coach Marvin Frazier who watched him day in and day out at practice made a smart decision to start letting Morris tote the rock earlier in the regular season. Morris is a BEAST at linebacker but the sophomore could have a future running the football.
Jordan Lyle Jordan Lyle 6'0" | 190 lbs | RB Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas | 2024 State FL | RB | 2024 | STA | @jlyle0
Had to show some love to South Florida as I usually let the GOAT Larry Bluestein handle the area. Lyle deserves the recognition as he’s been pivotal to the STA offense all season. He came up big for STA who won their 5th consecutive state championship. Lyle had multiple power runs to keep the chains moving while scoring on an 18-yard TD screen pass and a 2-yard TD run. Congrats to the senior who put together a very productive high school campaign.
Dennis Murray | QB | 2024 | Mainland | @DMurrayJr06
The true definition of a Game-Changer! Murray has been productive with his arm and legs all season and has helped Mainland earn a state championship in what was one of the more exciting games of the week. Just check the overall stats in a 21-19 win over St. Augustine: (380 Total Yds & 2 TDs). That’s what you call production and ice in his veins because the senior never folded in big moments.
Jameson Young Jameson Young 6'2" | 155 lbs | DB Lakeland | 2024 FL | DB | 2024 | Lakeland | @jamesonyoung12
Young is one of the best lockdown defensive backs in the state that is still on the market. I’m not sure if he had more than 20 targets his way in the entire season but he’s found a way to rack up the INTs. No other was bigger than his takeaway in the endzone before halftime which jolted the Dreadnaught’s energy before the break. Great frame, attitude, heart, and hands, everything college coaches need in a high-upside DB.
Carlos Mitchell Carlos Mitchell 5'11" | 170 lbs | ATH Lakeland | 2024 State FL | ATH | 2024 | Lakeland | @d1cj11
The top 2024 athlete in the state has put on a show in Orange and Black all season on both sides of the ball. He’s a lockdown defender with sure tackling abilities but when he gets the ball in his hands on offense you’d think he was a top RB/Slot prospect because of the speed and vision/IQ. Not sure how Mitchell is still on the market after decommitting from North Carolina but he’s a must-grab for college coaches looking for legitimate 2024 prospects.
BEST OF THE REST:
Zycarl Lewis | WR | 2024 | Venice | @ZycarlLewisJr
The Colorado WR commit is one of the most dynamic slot receivers that I have had the opportunity to watch develop. He’s been instrumental since joining the Venice program and has a bright future at the next level.
Chalil Cummings Chalil Cummings 5'11" | 175 lbs | ATH Starke Bradford County | 2024 State FL | DB | 2024 | Bradford | @ChalilCummingss
Cummings had the task of locking up 2025 Ohio State WR Jayvan Boggs Jayvan Boggs 6'0" | 180 lbs | WR Cocoa | 2025 State FL in what was a highly anticipated individual matchup. He recorded an interception as well making some huge plays on offense despite coming up short against Cocoa.
Brady Hart Brady Hart 6'4" | 185 lbs | QB Cocoa | 2026 FL | QB | 2026 | Cocoa | @BradyHartQB
One of the top 2026 QBs in the nation is now stamped with a state championship after finding off a productive sophomore season. He threw for 27/38 – 242 yards – 1 TD to help Cocoa earn the hardwood and take the trophy back home. Still plenty of time for Hart in high school so expect him and his team to make a return for glory.
Keon Young | DB | 2025 | Lakeland | @KeonYoung55
Nicholas Teeter Nicholas Teeter 5'8" | 160 lbs | WR Cocoa | 2025 FL | WR | 2025 | Cocoa | @NicholasteeterN
7 receptions – 83 yards – 1 TD
These four below were two of the best defensive performers of the state championship weekend.
Davi’yon Hawkins-Ingram | DL | 2024 | Cocoa | @DaviyonHawkins1
10 total tackles – 4.0 TFL – 2.0 sacks
Samadrae Hawkins Samadrae Hawkins 5'11" | 220 lbs | LB Cocoa | 2024 FL | LB | 2024 | Cocoa | @samadraehawkins
Incredible high school campaign for Hawkins who can for sure make an impact on a college roster.
Hawkins Twitter:
“Last night I surpassed a Cocoa legend (Grady Redding) and now have the most career tackles at Cocoa. The Darkside defense has terrorized defenses across the country for 3 decades. Last night on the last play of my high school career I called game!”
