With a rankings update coming in January look for many of these players to make big moves up the rankings list or make their ranking debuts.
Luke Greenfield Luke Greenfield 5'9" | 175 lbs | LB Santa Fe Trail | 2024 State KS , LB, 5’19”, 173, Santa Fe Trail, ‘24
Greenfield unofficially led all Class 3A defenders with 128 tackles. One of those tackles was for lost yardage and he recovered two fumbles in 10 games played in for the Chargers.
Karter Gonzalez Karter Gonzalez 5'10" | 210 lbs | ATH Hesston | 2025 State KS , LB, 5’10”, 210, Hesston, ‘25
Gonzalez is a dangerous two-way player. He led the Hesston Swathers in tackles with 116. Eight of his tackles went for lost yardage so he has the speed to get into the backfield and be disruptive. He also accounted for 700 total yards on the offensive side of the ball and scored nine total touchdowns.
Chayse Jeanneret, LB, 5’10”, 170, Santa Fe Trail, ‘24
Another Santa Fe Trail Charger to finish with solid tackling numbers was senior linebacker, Jeanneret. In ten games played he recorded 103 total tackles. He also registered one quarterback sack. The senior linebacker has the speed to explode through gaps but also moves well in pass coverage.
Koltyn Kaniper Koltyn Kaniper 5'11" | 175 lbs | LB Perry-Lecompton | 2025 State KS , LB, 5’11”, 175, Silver Lake, ‘25
Kaniper reached the 100-tackle threshold in nine games played for the Eagles. Sixteen of those tackles were for lost yardage. He also recorded two quarterback sacks and one interception. Kaniper is also a solid basketball prospect.
Cade Brown Cade Brown 6'1" | 220 lbs | LB Parsons | 2024 State KS , LB, 6’1”, 220, Parsons, ‘24
The Vikings senior finished his 11-game season with 100 total tackles. Fifteen of Brown’s tackles went for lost yardage. He has a sweet combination of size and speed that will play at the next level. He also made eight catches from his tight end position, three of which led to end-zone celebrations.
Carter Wilmarth Carter Wilmarth 6'1" | 215 lbs | LB Wellsville | 2025 State KS , LB, 6’1”, 215, Wellsville, ‘25
The Wellsville Eagles have multiple players to watch next fall and I hope to see a couple of them on the combine and camp circuit this spring. Wilmarth led the Eagles in tackles with 97 total tackles, nine of which resulted in lost yardage. The junior linebacker also recorded three quarterback sacks and recovered one fumble.
Brody Hayes Brody Hayes 5'11" | 185 lbs | ATH Clay Center | 2024 State KS , ATH, 5’10”, 175, Clay Center, ‘24
One player flying up the rankings when they are released is Clay Center’s Hayes. He led the Tigers with 93 total tackles in 11 games played. He plays strong safety for Clay Center and collected two interceptions and four pass break-ups. On the offensive side, he accounted for 20 total touchdowns and over 1,000 total yards gained.
