This report focuses on five quarterback gems from the eight-man ranks, three of whom will be returning for their senior season in 2024, and two who are looking for chances to play college ball.
Owen Reece, QB, 6’4”, 175, Hodgeman County, ‘25
Reece is a multi-sport talent and a solid dual-threat quarterback. He can use his legs or his arms to beat teams. His stats on Max Preps only include seven of his nine games played, but he threw for more than 1,800 yards, rushed for over 600, and had 46 touchdowns in those seven contests. Reece is also one of the top shooting guards in the Class 1A basketball ranks.
Briggs Jewell, QB, 6’1”, 150, South Barber, ‘24
The Chieftains got a solid season from their senior signal-caller. Jewell threw for 1,554 yards and 25 touchdowns in 10 games played. He also rushed for 413 yards and found the end zone nine times on the ground.
Duncan Bell Duncan Bell 5'11" | 170 lbs | QB Hoxie | 2025 State KS , QB, 5’11”, 172, Hoxie, ‘25
Bell has a nice arm and posted impressive numbers for the Hoxie Indians. The junior quarterback threw for 22 touchdowns and 1,545 yards in 11 games played. Bell also rushed for 487 yards and 14 touchdowns.
Brayden Lawson Brayden Lawson 6'1" | 185 lbs | QB Marmaton Valley | 2025 State KS , QB, 6’1”, 185, Marmaton Valley, ‘25
Another junior quarterback among the eight-man ranks to track is Marmaton Valley’s Lawson. The Wildcat junior finished with 1,474 yards in the passing game and 30 touchdowns in nine games. He rushed for 645 yards and eight touchdowns. He is a versatile player who also registered 67 total tackles on the defensive side of the ball. Six of those tackles were for lost yardage and he added four quarterback sacks and two fumble recoveries to his 2023 stat line. Lawson also plays basketball and baseball for the Wildcats.
Jace Wunderlich, QB, 5’10”, 165, Central, ‘24
Wunderlich had a big season for the Central Raiders. In 10 games he threw for 1,411 yards and 22 touchdowns. He also rushed for 1,132 yards and 22 touchdowns on the ground.
