Here is a look at eight athletes from Class 2A schools who finished their seasons with at least 40 receptions.
Tyce Melvin Tyce Melvin 5'8" | 140 lbs | WR Norton | 2025 State KS , WR, 5’8”, 140, Norton, ‘25
Melvin is an exciting prospect from Norton. He caught 57 balls to unofficially finish with the most receptions in Class 2A. He gained 889 yards in receptions and caught six touchdowns. Defensively he finished with five interceptions and 49 total tackles. He has a nice vertical to help him high-point the ball and he runs solid routes.
Sam Hull Sam Hull 6'4" | 210 lbs | TE Humboldt | 2024 State KS , TE, 6’5”, 200, Humboldt, ‘24
Hull should be considered one of the top tight-end prospects in Kansas during this spring signing season. He made 53 total receptions and caught nine balls for touchdowns. He gained 814 yards in the passing game which was an increase of almost 330 yards during his junior season. Hull plays defensive end for the Cubs and finished with 58 total tackles, eight of which went for a loss of yardage.
Walker Middleton, WR, 5’5”, 140, Russell, ‘26
The Russell Broncos have a young star in the making in sophomore Russell. In nine games played, he finished with 50 receptions for 541 yards. He scored six touchdowns in the passing game and scored two times on the ground. Middleton works best in the slot and runs a nice slant route.
Tucker Thaxton, WR, 5’8”, 170, Southeast Saline, ‘25
Thaxton eclipsed the 800-yard mark in 11 games played. He made 49 receptions for 825 yards and eight touchdowns. He also recorded one interception and 37 total tackles in 11 games for the Trojans.
Roman Hauser Roman Hauser 6'4" | 230 lbs | TE Norton Community | 2024 State KS , TE, 6’4”, 230, Norton, ‘24
Norton had a solid inside-outside receiving combination in Hauser and Melvin. Hauser made 48 catches from his tight end position. He gained 732 yards and scored five touchdowns for Norton. He has committed to play at Nebraska-Kearney.
Joey Millspaugh Joey Millspaugh 6'0" | 175 lbs | RB Halstead | 2025 State KS , RB, 6’0”, 175, Halstead, ‘25
Millspaugh is a young dual-threat running back for the Dragons. Has a running back he rushed for 310 yards and one touchdown as a sophomore while catching 46 balls for 480 yards. He scored four total touchdowns during the 2023 season.
Ryan Parks, WR/CB, 6’0”, 175, Minneapolis, ‘24
Parks is another prospect who made a big impact on both sides of the ball for Class 2A programs. On offense, he finished with 40 receptions in nine games for 641 yards. Parks caught six touchdowns. He also took some snaps at quarterback completing 35-of-72 pass attempts for 496 yards and six touchdowns. Defensively he collected 52 total tackles. He registered 18 TFLs and nine quarterback sacks.
