<p>The high school football playoffs are well underway in West Texas. Regional Semifinal Round games were played last Friday and Saturday as teams battled to advance as far as they can through the Region I brackets, and hopefully reach AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX for the state championship game in their respective classifications (or wherever the state title game is being played). Quarterfinal Round games will be played this weekend with most games scheduled for Friday night.</p>

<p><strong>Recap: </strong>Midland Legacy, the last Class 6A or 5A team from West Texas still alive in the playoffs, saw its season come to an end with a loss to traditional power Allen at Shotwell Stadium in Abilene. Senior QB [player_tooltip player_id='119032' first='Marcos' last='Davila'], in his last game for Legacy, completed 10 of 20 passes for 233 yards and one TD pass. Legacy RB Damien Johnson rushed 26 times for 117 yards and four TD, including a 31-yard score in the fourth quarter that narrowed the Rebels' deficit to 38-35 with 8:22 to play. However, Midland Legacy got no closer. Legacy led, 14-0, in the first quarter but Allen grabbed control of the game in the second quarter for a 16-14 halftime lead.</p>

<p><strong>Recap</strong>: Even though West Plains is playing just its second year of football, the Wolves have advanced to the quarterfinals of the Class 4A, D2 playoffs by handing Monahans its first loss of the season. West Plains QB Reid Macon, only a sophomore, completed 23-of-28 passes for 267 yards and 3 TD to spark the Wolves' offense. West Plains also rushed for 207 yards (Jordi Hernandez led the way with 134 yards on the ground) to give them 474 total offensive yards. Monahans finished 12-1. . .Seminole QB Wyatt Holmstrom capped off a fantastic junior season by completing 31-of-39 passes for 289 yards and 2 TYD but it wasn't enough in a loss to Glen Rose. Sophomore RB [player_tooltip player_id='953376' first='Caton' last='Cramer'] carried 32 times for 149 yards. FS Braden Bailey made 19 tackles for the Seminole defense while Bryan Hernandez had 18 tackles. </p>
