The St. John's Cadets secured a WCAC 1st RD playoff matchup against DeMatha with their OT victory over Gonzaga this week, and, winning 23-20, they did so by a narrow margin. Both teams performed tremendously well overall this past Saturday, so let's now take a closer look at our 5 stars of the game!

2026 6'2 175 K - [player_tooltip player_id='1607613' first='Nolan' last='Stringer'] - St. John's

The Player of the Game Award from this epic WCAC thriller most definitely belongs to the young man who drilled the 39 game winning field goal for the Cadets- [player_tooltip player_id='1607613' first='Nolan' last='Stringer']! Stringer showcased his clutch kicking ability in overtime, and his game winning kick was certainly the play of the game as well. It doesn't get much better than an overtime game-winner, and that's exactly what Sophomore kicker [player_tooltip player_id='1607613' first='Nolan' last='Stringer'] delivered for St. John's over the weekend. His kick cemented their first round matchup this upcoming weekend against the DeMatha Stags under the Friday night lights!

2024 5'11 190 RB - Da'Juan Riggs - St. John's - Oregon

It's no surprise that Da'Juan Riggs continued his streak of dominance against Gonzaga on Saturday. He ran in the first two touchdown scores of the game for the Cadets on multiple short runs inside the redzone, and he also averaged nearly 8 yards per carry on the day. Riggs is the primary option on offense for his team, so, if the Cadets are going to make yet another run at the WCAC title, it's crucial that his elite performance carry-on deep into the playoffs! He faces a tough test in a stingy DeMatha defense this weekend, but if he can get the run game going early then the Cadets absolutely have a fighting chance at the upset!

2026 5'10 200 RB - [player_tooltip player_id='212257' first='Breyon' last='Williams'] - St. John's

With 132 total all-purpose yards, [player_tooltip player_id='212257' first='Breyon' last='Williams'] owned the stats sheet for St. John's over the weekend. He led the team in carries with 10, and, including a highlight-reel 32 yard run, he added 66 yards rushing with those touches as well. Williams presented a lot of problems for the opposing defense as a receiver in this game, and he tallied another 66 yards as a result. It's clear that [player_tooltip player_id='212257' first='Breyon' last='Williams'] is a dynamic playmaker out of the backfield, and he's equally comfortable in both the running and receiving games for this Cadets offense. It's no coincidence that he already possesses elite D1 offers from a number of programs such as: USF, Toledo, Maryland, and Boston College. Scouts nationwide must know the name [player_tooltip player_id='212257' first='Breyon' last='Williams'], because he's most definitely on track to become the next great RB1 for the St. John's Cadets!

2025 6'2 180 WR - [player_tooltip player_id='1241912' first='Lincoln' last='Fisher'] - Gonzaga

[player_tooltip player_id='1241912' first='Lincoln' last='Fisher'] played one of his best games of the season in this contest, and he put up huge numbers against a very good St. John's secondary. He caught 4 balls for an incredible 189 receiving yards, with a 52 yard touchdown score as well. He displayed great chemistry with his quarterback, [player_tooltip player_id='264054' first='Aidan' last='Conrath'], and their elite connection really kept the Purple Eagles in this game down the stretch. There's no doubt in my mind that [player_tooltip player_id='1241912' first='Lincoln' last='Fisher'] is one of the best overall wide receivers in the WCAC, and he will need to play at an all-time high level yet again this weekend if Gonzaga is going to achieve the upset victory over Good Counsel!

2024 6'1 200 QB - [player_tooltip player_id='264054' first='Aidan' last='Conrath'] - Gonzaga

While the Purple Eagles fell just barely short in overtime, [player_tooltip player_id='264054' first='Aidan' last='Conrath'] had a career day versus St. John's, and he consistently put his team in a position to win throughout the contest. Conrath threw for 234 yards on 16/25 passing with 3 total touchdowns, and his performance was nothing short of spectacular. He played even better in clutch time, driving the length of the field and throwing a game-tying touchdown pass to send it to OT. [player_tooltip player_id='264054' first='Aidan' last='Conrath'] ended the day with a jaw-dropping 134.0 QBR, and he showed the entire WCAC that he's a top tier quarterback in the conference. Quarterback scouts nationwide must have Gonzaga Captain [player_tooltip player_id='264054' first='Aidan' last='Conrath'] on their watchlists, because he showcased tremendous arm talent and anticipation against an elite St. John's defense. Conrath and the Purple Eagles kickoff against Good Counsel this Friday in the first round of the WCAC playoffs!
