With the transfer portal having such a huge impact recruiting, we are seeing high school players who in the past would have received full ride offers pick up the PWOs instead. Here are some prospects who deserve full rides.
Grayson Cutchlow Grayson Cutchlow 6'3" | 220 lbs | LB Rock Bridge | 2024 State MO LB Rock Bridge – Recently was offered a PWO by his hometown Missouri Tigers. The 6’3″ 225 linebacker has been a monster and the top defender for his Bruins in 2023, and one of the top in the state overall. Cutchlow has all the tools and skills any P5 college could want. He’s fast, athletic, physical, strong and makes big plays. When I saw him this year I thought how he was better now then guys currently on D1 rosters. His numbers backed it up as he recorded 147 tackles, 7 sacks, 26 tackles for loss, 6 pressures, 4 interceptions and 1 forced fumbles, Whoever ultimately lands him will get a good one.
Thomas Coppinger Thomas Coppinger 6'3" | 225 lbs | LB Rockhurst | 2024 State MO H-Back/LB Rockhurst – Another big-time linebacker prospect, who also has great potential on the offensive side of the ball as an H-Back or TE on the next level. Copperinger has over 90 tackles and 5 interceptions as a senior, He’s athletic, has speed, is physical and has a nose for the ball. He’s also scored 6 touchdowns from his fullback positions with the Hawklets. Teams such as Kansas, Kansas State and TCU have seen enough to extend PWOs. While I like him as a defender, I can see him being a nice contributor on offense on the next level with his ability to run the ball in short yardage, block and catch the ball.
Garrett Jackson Garrett Jackson 6'6" | 330 lbs | OL Lafayette | 2024 State MO OL Lafayette – The 6’6″ 315 Jackson has the necessary skills to go along with the size to crack the two-deep, if not ultimately start on a P5 school’s offensive line. He’s equally proficient both run and pass blocking and is a worker who develops his skills on a regular basis. The Missouri Tigers see the value of adding him to their program and have extended a PWO.
Kendal Hammond Kendal Hammond 6'2" | 200 lbs | ATH South Shelby | 2024 State MO RB/LB South Shelby – A small school talent with big-time athleticism and ability, Hammond is another football talent that could wind up on either side of the ball. Hammond ran for over 2,000 yards and scored 36 touchdowns overall (34 rushing), while averaging almost 13 yards per carry at running back. He also recorded 75 tackles and a sack on defense. The 6’2″ 205 pounder has very good speed and athleticism, including a 34″ vertical jump. Both SEMO and Lindenwood University recently extended PWOs.
Ashton Phillips Ashton Phillips 6'1" | 220 lbs | LB DeSmet Jesuit | 2024 State MO LB De Smet – The Citadel recently extended a PWO to the 6’2″ 220 linebacker talent who helped lead his team to the state semifinal game of the largest class in the state. Phillips can do it all at his position covering sideline to sideline, filling the middle with his physical play and in pass coverage. He has the side and speed D1 schools look for and would not disappoint whoever is lucky enough to land him
