This is as close to a college type game you will see in a high school setting. Both teams are loaded with talent, so here are matchups you should watch this Friday while you see who comes out victorious.
Corner Canyon QB: Issac Wilson vs. Skyridge QB: Jackson Stevens Jackson Stevens 6'5" | 225 lbs | QB Skyridge | 2024 State UT
This quarterback matchup will be a fun one to watch. Wilson’s ability as a duel threat QB has made him a playmaker for the Chargers and a reason why the University of Utah will be happy to have him in years to come. Jackson is a 6’5 prospect with an arm that can deliver the deep ball to his pass catchers. Jackson is currently on the radar of programs such as Southern Utah and Harvard. Quarterback play will the difference maker in this game and we’ll see who comes out on top.
Corner Canyon Offensive Line vs. Skyridge Defensive line
You have to keep an eye on the line of scrimmage in this game !!!! This Charger’s starting offensive line has college talent across the board and they will have their hands full with their best matchup this season. Utah commit Isaiah Garcia Isaiah Garcia 6'5" | 280 lbs | OL Corner Canyon | 2024 State UT and highly recruited prospect Paxton Naegle Paxton Naegle 6'5" | 230 lbs | OL Corner Canyon | 2025 State UT will have to seal those edges against highly recruited prospect Deshawn Toilolo Deshawn Toilolo 6'1" | 215 lbs | DL Skyridge | 2025 State UT and under the radar prospect Iakopo Malufau Iakopo Malufau 5'10" | 235 lbs | DL Skyridge | 2025 State UT . The matchup in the middle between Charger’s center Naimana Filivaolelei Naimana Filivaolelei 6'0" | 290 lbs | OL Corner Canyon | 2025 State UT and Falcon’s defensive tackle Ian Mariner Ian Mariner 6'1" | 290 lbs | DL Skyridge | 2024 State UT will be another one you can’t miss.
Skyridge’s Offensive Line vs. Corner Canyon Defensive Line
Did I mention to keep an eye on the line of scrimmage ? because it’s going to be all game. This Falcon’s offensive line is filled with prospects that can play at the college level. Highly recruited prospects Ben Howard Ben Howard 6'4" | 280 lbs | OL Skyridge | 2025 State UT , Darius Afalava Darius Afalava 6'5" | 320 lbs | OL Skyridge | 2025 State UT and under the radar prospect Viliami Fifita will most likely see Utah commit Kash Dillon and highly recruited prospect Roman Caywood Roman Caywood 6'4" | 215 lbs | DL Corner Canyon | 2024 State UT in the trenches. Under the radar prospects center Filimone Fangupo Filimone Fangupo 6'1" | 275 lbs | DL Skyridge | 2025 State UT and Charger’s nose guard Kaden Bonham will be another interesting one.
Corner Canyon WR: Tate Kjar Tate Kjar 5'10" | 150 lbs | WR Corner Canyon | 2024 State UT vs. Skyridge DB: Tavian Edwards Tavian Edwards 6'0" | 170 lbs | WR Wasatch | 2025 State UT
I was at the Corner Canyon vs. Bishop Gorman game when Jerome Myles Jerome Myles 6'3" | 200 lbs | WR Corner Canyon | 2025 State UT suffered a leg injury and Tate Kjar Tate Kjar 5'10" | 150 lbs | WR Corner Canyon | 2024 State UT reminded people why he was the 6A offensive MVP of the year last season. His hands, quickness off the LOS and getting separation vs DBs has earned him offers from programs like Utah State. His match up against under the radar prospect Tavian Edwards Tavian Edwards 6'0" | 170 lbs | WR Wasatch | 2025 State UT is a combination of athletic ability and ball skills. These two athletes will be another fun matchup to watch.
Corner Canyon HB: Bryton Brady Bryton Brady 5'10" | 165 lbs | ATH Corner Canyon | 2025 State UT vs. Skyridge LB: Jackson Fenton
Brady is an athletic 5’10 junior with quickness and burst to run between the tackles. Balance to bounce off tacklers along with hands and willingness to block in pass protection. This 1,000 yard rusher will have hands full with senior linebacker Jackson Fenton, a physical player that has a nose to find ball carriers in the running game and shows burst and UOH as a blitz rusher. These two under the radar prospects make for a good matchup on Friday.
