The regular season has ended, and while some teams have had to turn in their gear and say goodbye to their seniors, there are still 16 teams in 5A that are eyeing the state championship. The bracket consists of 16 teams, and in this article, I will focus on the bottom half of the bracket.
#14 Eagle Point (5-4) @ #3 Mountain View (9-0)
Prediction: Mountain View def. Eagle Point 49-6.
Mountain View emerged as conference champs this season in the Intermountain Conference by going undefeated with some impressive wins on the road against Summit, Caldera, and Canby. This week, they are expected to easily defeat Eagle Point, and I believe that they will eventually dominate this game. Mountain View’s running game has been virtually unstoppable, thanks to their breakout RB Angel Valenzuela Angel Valenzuela 5'11" | 205 lbs | RB Mountain View | 2026 State OR . They are going to be a formidable opponent in the upcoming playoffs.

#11 McKay (6-3) @ #6 Hillsboro (7-2)
Prediction: Hillsboro def. McKay 28-23.
The upcoming game between Hillsboro and McKay is expected to be a close one. Although McKay is a very solid 11th seed, Hillsboro is favored to win due to their impressive defense. However, McKay’s impressive offense cannot be underestimated, and whichever team performs better on Friday will come out on top. Hillsboro’s defensive line, led by Asante Mims Asante Mims 5'11" | 215 lbs | LB Hillsboro | 2026 State OR , will give McKay a hard time, while Justice Anthony Justice Anthony 5'10" | 165 lbs | ATH McKay | 2024 State OR ‘s skills will be a challenge for Hillsboro’s defense. It will be exciting to see how this game unfolds.

The winner of Eagle Point vs Mountain View and the winner of McKay vs Hillsboro will face each other next week.
#10 Caldera (6-3) @ #7 West Albany (7-2)
Prediction: West Albany def. Caldera 31-20.
This upcoming game between two physical and aggressive teams promises to be a good one. I believe that TE/LB Austin Simmons Austin Simmons 6'5" | 220 lbs | TE West Albany | 2025 State OR will be the X-factor in this match. I am not sure if anyone on Caldera will be able to guard him, and if they go into the game with a plan of not letting Simmons beat them, the Bulldogs are talented enough to still win. The game should be close and competitive, and it’s possible that it could get out of hand at some point.

#15 Hood River Valley (4-5) @ #2 Silverton (9-0)
Prediction: Silverton def. Hood River Valley 52-7.
This game should not be close. I will be honest, I am not a big believer in Hood River Valley and thought South Albany should have gotten a shot over them, but I digress. Silverton should run away with this one and will have a tougher matchup in the second round. Expect Sawyer Teeney Sawyer Teeney 6'0" | 185 lbs | QB Silverton | 2025 State OR to throw all over Hood River’s defense.
