As we begin the regional semifinals this week there are once again football prospects who have thrust themselves into the spotlight with amazing performances.
Today, we bring you five more football players who made an impact in the first round of the playoffs.
2025 – Shermon Davis, RB, 5-10, 190, Jacksonville Riverside. Here is one of many catalysts for a program that has vaulted into the spotlight as we head toward the next round. After a 169-yard performance in the opener for the Generals, this elusive and quick back continued to make a name for himself. Many believe he is the most underrated running back in northern Florida.
2024 – Jacob Drackett Jacob Drackett 5'11" | 160 lbs | QB Calvary Christian | 2024 FL , QB, 5-11, 170, Clearwater Calvary Christian. There are many reasons why this program is still going strong in the second round of the state playoffs, and here is one of them. From the playing field, where he has accounted for 2,691 yards to the classroom where his 4.2 GPA and 1240 SAT have caught the attention of colleges all over, He is coming off an impressive 20 of 25 for 400 yards, 6 passing TD, 1 rushing TD. Certainly, deserving of the spotlight!
2024 – Joshua Alexander-Felton Joshua Alexander-Felton 6'4" | 255 lbs | DL Orlando Edgewater | 2024 State FL , DE, 6-4, 255, Orlando Edgewater. This North Carolina State commitment has certainly been a huge force for the unbeaten Eagles. Unstoppable off the edge, he is a huge part of a team that many consider to be one of the best in 3M. Coming off a two-sack performance in the opening, here is a student/athlete that gets it done in the classroom (3.2 GPA) as well.
2026 – Chance Routson, QB, 6-3, 185, Boca Raton. One the huge stories this season for the surprising Bobcats who came up with a huge first round win. Is an up-and-coming prospect who is just starting to jump on to the radar screen with a solid 4 TD, 450-yard performance to go along with the many eye-opening games he has put together in 2023. Also is a stellar student (3.8 GPA) in the classroom.
2024 – Jesse Winslette Jesse Winslette 6'6" | 215 lbs | QB Choctawhatchee | 2024 FL , QB, 6-6, 215, Fort Walton Beach Choctawhatchee. Immediately after his team’s first round playoff win, there were several football fans across the state that started to watch this 9-2 team and the athletes that they have. In addition to Stanford-bound running back Cole Tabb Cole Tabb 5'7" | 190 lbs | RB Fort Walton Beach Choctawhatchee | 2024 State FL , the Indians also have a quality quarterback, who brings his “A” game to the field every week, and with two scoring passes in the playoff opener, he turned some heads. In addition to what this young man does on the football field, he is equally as impressive in the classroom – where his3.5 GPA and Advance & AP Classes are bringing in colleges and universities from all over.
