York prevailed 28-20, taking control of the game late in the 4th quarter. Let’s take a look at some standout players from both teams.
Ayden Davis Ayden Davis 6'0" | 170 lbs | QB York | 2024 State SC – ATH – York
Davis was my player of the game – he had two touchdown runs in the 4th quarter to help seal the game for York from the quarterback position. Standing at 6’2 and 190 pounds, Davis lined up some at wide receiver and caught some passes as well. He showed some dynamic agility and speed with the football in his hands, paired with excellent speed to run away from defenders and make plays in the open field. He shows to have offers from Army and Limestone currently and also is an accomplished athlete on the track side of things. Davis is a Class of 2024 prospect.
Timir Hickman-Collins Timir Hickman-Collins 6'1" | 200 lbs | LB Indian Land | 2024 State SC – LB – Indian Land
Timir quickly showed why he is committed to playing football at Florida State University as he had several impressive solo tackles in stuffing the inside running game of York in the first half when I arrived at the stadium. Displaying excellent quickness to the football, Timir is also extremely physical in shedding blocks of interior offensive linemen and getting to the ball carrier. Timir also showed excellent technique and speed when blitzing from depth and rushing the quarterback in passing situations. Timir currently stands at 6’1 and 210 pounds and is a leader in the Indian Land defense.
Johnathan Tobias – ATH – York
Standing at 6’0 and 180 pounds, Tobias is a Class of 2025 prospect. He caught a TD pass from the slot after the York offense audibled when seeing Cover 0 on a 3rd and long passing situation. He used a nice release off the line and beat the defensive back by five yards, showing great speed after catching the ball over the shoulder smoothly. Tobias also ended the game by intercepting Indian Land on their last drive when they were attempting to come back and tie the game to send it into overtime.
Jake Recker – OL – Indian Land
Indian Land has a good-sized offensive line, but Recker stood out to me immediately at first glance. He is listed at 6’5 and 280 pounds and he plays Left Tackle for the Warriors. He shows excellent technique and good hand placement in the run game, and I liked how he moved his feet well in pass sets in the dropback passing game. His Twitter profile says he has a 4.70 GPA and that he is a three-sport athlete – football, basketball, and track. He also has the ability to long snap and has college interest from Newberry and a PWO offer from Alabama, which is impressive. He also holds an offer from Charlotte. Jake is a Class of 2024 prospect.
