QB Camren Cavalier threw for 275 yards and 4 TD. . .Bushland scored 35 point in the first 4 minutes of the game against River Road. . .#3 Stratford had a pair of 100-yard rushers in their win over Panhandle. Julio Valdez needed just 7 carries to gain 135 yards. He had a 95-yard run. Bryce Braden carried 24 times for 101 yards. Stratford is 7-0. . .#4 Amarillo crushed Lubbock Coronado behind an explosive offense that totaled 631 yards. . .#5 Canyon improved to 6-1 with a huge win over Hereford. Canyon attempted just 9 passes while rushing for 302 yards as 4 rushers had 50+ yards on the ground. . .#8 Sunray (7-1) beat Boys Ranch behind QB Armando Lujan and faces Gruver in a 2A showdown in Week 9. . .#9 Tascosa had a bye. . .#10 Randall pummeled Pampa behind a strong running game (270 yards).

Armando Lujan, Sunray: Completed 23-of-36 passes for 337 yards and 4 TD in Sunray’s victory over Boys Ranch.
Kaden Crooks, Canadian: Rushed for 210 yards on just 10 carries and caught a 58-yard TD pass in Canadian’s rout of Spearman.
Will Flaming, Amarillo: Completed 14-of-19 passes for 345 yards and 4 TD. He averaged 24.6 yards per completion.
Dylan Ray, Randall: Rushed for 139 yards and 2 TD on 22 carries in Randall‘s lopsided win over Pampa.
Drake Rabe, Childress: Completed 16-of-20 passes for 248 yards and 3 TD in the Bobcats’ 56-6 win over Tulia.

How It Happened: Unbeaten Midland (7-0) has risen to #1 in the latest MaxPreps Permian Basin Region poll after beating Frenship behind 446 rushing yards. Midland ran the ball 34 times compared to 4 passes. . .Week 8 saw two of the wildest games of the season. #2 Midland Legacy lost to #5 Odessa Permian, 32-31, when the Panthers converted a two-point conversion with 10 seconds left. The Panthers drove 89 yards in 19 plays and took more than 9 minutes off the clock to score on Juzstyce Lara’s 1-yard TD run. The score pulled Odessa to within 31-30. The Panthers gambled and went for two instead of kicking a game-tying PAT. . . #3 Odessa is 5-2 largely because of their ability to win close games and the Bronchos did it again with a one-point shootout win in overtime over San Angelo Central. Odessa has won 4 games by 3 points or less with another win coming by 7 points in overtime. Odessa scored in overtime to make it 70-69 and the Bronchos decided to go for 2. QB Mikey Cota scored on the run to give Odessa the victory. The two teams combined for over 1,300 yards in total offense. . .The other 7-0 team in the Permian Basin Region? Monahans. The #4 Loboes trounced Fort Stockton, 56-21. Monahans led, 28-14 at halftime and scored another 28 points in the second half. . .#9 Wink improved to 7-1 with a 37-0 victory over Water Valley. . .#11 Forsan is 6-1 after ripping Anthony, 60-14.

Juzstyce Lara, Odessa Permian: Rushed for 148 yards on 27 carries to lead Permian past Midland Legacy.
Damien Johnson, Midland Legacy: He had 24 carries for 187 yards and a TD in Legacy’s heartbreaking loss to Odessa Permian.
Mikey Cota, Odessa: Threw for 534 yards and EIGHT touchdowns as Odessa puled out the wild win over San Angelo Central. WR Jalen Warren had 11 receptions for 188 yards.
Hayden Bowlin, Forsan: Caught 4 passes for 120 yards and 2 TD in Forsan’s win over Anthony.
