In a statement game for the defending SCISA 2A state champs on the road, Camden Moore showed out to knock off Beaufort Academy. Moore was electric on the ground, racking up an impressive 192 yards on 24 carries with a touchdown. The shifty and elusive running back has excellent patience and vision and can make quick cuts to outwit defenders. He’s an excellent two-way veteran who will need to be at his best to help defend the title for the Stallions.
JD Sholar
JD Sholar
An underrated piece defensively for Williamsburg, JD Sholar delivered a strong effort for the Stallions to stop Beaufort Academy’s dynamic rushing attack. He was quick in flying to the ball and making good reads in open space, tallying six important tackles throughout the contest. He’s a well-experienced senior who knows how to perform in big situations for the Stallions and should be counted upon in the postseason next month.
AJ Houpt
AJ Houpt
A breakout weapon for Hilton Head Christian Academy’s rising offense this year, AJ Houpt has been critical for the offense’s success at wideout. He delivered his best game as an Eagle on Friday, catching five passes for 112 yards and two touchdowns. He’s become a valuable security blanket who has great instincts to get open and make key catches on third downs. He’ll be needed to keep up his clutch play as the Eagles get ready for the 3A playoffs.
Manny Johnson
Manny Johnson
In a star-studded showdown on Friday night, Hammond’s Manny Johnson was the difference to lead the Skyhawks to victory over Cardinal Newman. He was outstanding on the ground, going for 159 yards and three touchdowns on 16 carries. Johnson’s quickness and vision have continued to strengthen as his career has gone on, and he loves to shine in the spotlight with the ball in his hands. He’ll be an important factor on the ground as Hammond guns for another state title in 4A this fall.
Zane Wilson
Zane Wilson
Always an important leader on the field for the Eagles, Zane Wilson took his play to new heights on Friday night. Wilson’s skill and toughness defensively were on full display, making 9.5 tackles and adding a sack to help Hilton Head Christian win its fifth in a row. He’s a dynamite player with physicality and grit and is starting to turn up his motor even further as the playoffs approach. We should be the best yet from Wilson in these next few weeks as he looks to add another trophy to his mantle.
Christian Tilton
Christian Tilton
He’s the most important player on the field for the John Paul II Golden Warriors, and he delivered another gem on Friday to defeat Hilton Head Prep and likely get his team into the postseason. Christian Tilton‘s toughness and elusiveness was too much for the Dolphins, doing it with his legs and through the air in another stunning performance after returning from injury. He’s the sparkplug that unlocks a new level of offensive firepower and has improved his crispness and execution in the passing game. Tilton will need to be on the field to give John Paul II a shot at an upset this November.
