RB Tristan Tate – Shelby
Tristan rushed for 2 touchdowns in the big victory for the Golden Lions. I was impressed with his vision on reading blocks on the outside zone/stretch play Shelby had a lot of success with all game. At 5’7 and 160 pounds, Tate is definitely in the speed back category, and he showed really good speed once he broke to the 2nd level and into space, not getting caught from behind easily for long runs. Tate is a Class of 2025 prospect.
WR Izay Bridges Izay Bridges 5'8" | 160 lbs | WR Shelby | 2024 State NC – Shelby
The NC Central commit had a nice game overall with a rushing touchdown and a kickoff return touchdown in the Golden Lions victory. One of the most dynamic speed receivers in the Charlotte Metro Area, Bridges once again showed his game-breaking ability in more than just the receiving way. He has quick twitch ability with the ball in his hands – on the first play from scrimmage he took a curl route 40 yards, most of it after the catch, and made a corner miss a tackle, setting up their first touchdown of the game. Izay is a Class of 2024 prospect.
QB Trenton Sherrill – East Gaston
The 6’4 left handed 2024 prospect has had a strong season for the Warriors. He has helped lead them to their best season in many years. In this game he rushed for a touchdown and completed some nice passes against a strong pass rush and good coverage overall from Shelby. Also a basketball player, Trenton showed some dual-threat ability in the QB run game. It is surprising that he has not seen more interest, but I think it is a product of the run-first offense East Gaston employs.
DL Jaden Pierce Jaden Pierce 6'2" | 290 lbs | DL Shelby | 2024 State NC – Shelby
Jaden is a talented 2024 prospect that has had a lot of recruiting attention. His Twitter profile shows past offers from Florida Atlantic, Temple, Citadel, NC Central, Norfolk State, Dartmouth, Charleston Southern, and Richmond among others. At 6’3 and 285 pounds, he remains uncommitted at this time. He is a very physical player that can stop the run very well by getting great penetration at the snap and shedding blocks of offensive linemen. He has great short burst speed that can shoot gaps and cause instant pressure up the middle on quarterbacks in the passing game.
LB Nick Norris – Shelby
I had not heard much about Nick coming into this game, but he had an impressive game with 18 tackles from the linebacker spot, and a rushing touchdown in the 4th quarter from the running back spot. He was very physical and tackled well in space, several times making solo tackles to stop potential big runs from East Gaston. He is a Class of 2025 prospect, and someone that should garner some recruiting attention on the summer camp circuit for sure.
LB Kirin Moebes – East Gaston
At 6’3 and 210 pounds, this young man was impressive at the linebacker spot for the Warriors. He is a Class of 2025 prospect and had an interception that helped keep East Gaston in the game in the first half. I liked how well he was able to chase down plays and make tackles – the Golden Lions were running away from him a lot in the run game, and I think it was because he did a good job of stuffing the run to his side of the defense. I’m excited to see how Kirin can progress in the offseason.
