Today, we will be continuing my #PRZTN Stock Up Performers series as we breakdown some of the top talent in the state of Tennessee that have made their presence known on the field this past week. Without any further ado, here’s my list of top prospects from week eight of competition.
At the top of my list of notable performers is Josh Mayernick Josh Mayernick 5'8" | 185 lbs | RB CPA | 2024 TN , a 5-foot-8, 185-pound running back at Christ Presbyterian Academy. Mayernick and the Lions are coming off a blowout 52-14 win over Antioch last week. What impresses me the most about Mayernick’s playstyle is his explosiveness in the pocket as well as his electric breakaway speed, showcasing his durability on the move as he escapes into the backfield. Mayernick caught my attention last week with his ability to withstand contact in the pocket and stay on his feet under pressure, utilizing his quickness to escape into the backfield and take it all the way to the house.
Johnny Silvestri
Johnny Silvestri
I am additionally impressed with Johnny Silvestri, a 6-foot-1, 185-pound athlete at Brentwood High School. Silvestri and the Bruins remained undefeated last week, defeating Centennial 28-21. Silvestri made a considerable difference defensively, protecting the backfield with his ability to quickly challenge the offense and make commanding stops. Silvestri also stands out with his defensive consistency and positioning, showing off his overall awareness and disruptiveness down the stretch, shutting down the passing game in the backfield with his electric speed, ability to swat the ball out of the air and his ability to pick off the quarterback.
Claiming the number three spot on my list is Charlie Goss Charlie Goss 6'3" | 180 lbs | DB First Assembly | 2026 TN , a 6-foot-3, 180-pound defensive back at First Assembly Christian High School. Goss and the Crusaders recorded an impressive 48-0 rout of Westwood last week. In addition to outstanding athleticism and the ability to efficiently read the offense, Goss impresses me with his deceptive footwork and ability to use bursts of speed in the backfield to get in front of deep passes. In last week’s matchup, Goss proved he can put the offense in strong field positioning off of kick returns as well as pick off the quarterback down the stretch. Another aspect of Goss that stands out is his ability to make commanding stops, using his quickness and physicality to challenge the offense.
Another skilled prospect to keep an eye on is Mason Ellis Mason Ellis 6'0" | 180 lbs | DB Sevier Co. | 2024 TN , a 5-foot-10, 185-pound athlete at Sevier County High School. Ellis and the Smoky Bears claimed a 41-34 overtime win over Morristown-Hamblen West last week. What makes Ellis so impactful offensively is his electric speed down the stretch, showing off his athletic edge in coverage as he breaks away into the backfield to get open for deep passes. On top of hauling in a challenging touchdown pass last week, Ellis also handled the opposition defensively, showing off his ability to shut down the run game quickly off the snap, catching the offense off guard before they break free into the backfield.
Darvon Richmond
Darvon Richmond
Coming in at number five on my list is Darvon Richmond, a 6-foot-2, 165-pound athlete at White County High School. Richmond and the Warriors handed Christian Academy of Knoxville a 41-7 blowout loss last week. Richmond made his presence known offensively down the stretch, proving he can make catches from anywhere on the field and barrel past the defense into the redzone with his explosive speed in coverage. Richmond impresses with his strong footwork and positioning, showcasing his ability to withstand defensive contact, breaking tackles as he blasts into the endzone. Richmond also caught my attention defensively, attacking the ball in the air to pick off the quarterback.
Zeb Pulliam
Zeb Pulliam
Also worth mentioning is Zeb Pulliam, a 5-foot-11, 185-pound linebacker at Fayette Academy. Pulliam and the Vikings earned a 34-18 victory over Tipton-Rosemark Academy last week. In addition to outstanding size, speed and physicality, what impresses me the most about Pulliam is his defensive execution, reading the offense like a book as he drops offensive playmakers to the ground in the pocket. Pulliam also stands out with his durability and strength, using his solid size and toughness to absorb contact from the offense, collapse the pocket and quickly stop the running back from reaching the backfield.
