At the top of my list of notable performers is Torin McAfee Torin McAfee 6'1" | 145 lbs | DB Knox. Central | 2026 State TN , a 6-foot-1, 145-pound defensive back at Knoxville Central High School. McAfee and the Bobcats picked up a 41-33 victory over Heritage last week. What stands out most about McAfee is his disruptiveness in coverage, using his arm strength to contest receivers on passes. Another aspect of McAfee’s playstyle that impresses is his ability to read the quarterback in the backfield, his ability to attack the ball in the air and his breakaway speed. McAfee proved his field awareness and playmaking ability with a significant pick-six last week, blasting into the endzone untouched by the defense.

I am additionally impressed with Corbin Laisure Corbin Laisure 6'5" | 225 lbs | TE Sullivan-East | 2025 State TN , a 6-foot-5, 220-pound tight end at Sullivan-East High School. Laisure and the Patriots are coming off a 47-28 win over West Greene this past week. What impresses me most about Laisure is his quick execution and outstanding footwork, showing off his ability to turn around for the quick catch as well as his ability to break free of the defense from along the edge. Laisure also made a difference in the endzone, proving he can elevate off the ground to grab touchdown passes. On the Patriots’ defensive line, Laisure can muscle past the offense and apply pressure. I also like how Laisure can stop the rush.

Claiming the number three spot on my list is Austin Howard Austin Howard 6'3" | 225 lbs | LB Bartlett | 2025 State TN , a 6-foot-2, 210-pound linebacker at Bartlett High School. Howard and the Panthers recorded a 41-0 blowout win over Cordova last week. Howard contributes excellent defensive explosiveness, showcasing his ability to muscle past the defense and take down the quarterback. Another aspect of Howard that stands out is his ability to read the quarterback and both stop the rush and pick up sacks. I also like how Howard capitalizes on openings in the pocket, stunning the offense with his ability to blast the quarterback behind the line of scrimmage. Howard also impresses me with his ability to make crucial tackles on quick passes.

Another skilled prospect to watch for is Jakyri McClure Jakyri McClure 5'11" | 195 lbs | RB Mt. Pleasant | 2025 State TN , a 5-foot-10, 185-pound running back at Mt. Pleasant High School. McClure and the Tigers claimed a 35-21 victory over Hickman County this past week. McClure is so impactful on the ground due to his electric speed and durable edge, breaking tackles in the pocket to escape into the open field. I also like McClure’s ability to pick up speed from along the edge and stay on his feet under pressure. Another aspect of McClure that stands out is his footwork and ability to dodge contact as he forces his way into the endzone.
