Sophomore LB William Marischen (6’0″195) had a nose for the ball and seemed to be in or near most plays. It was no surprise that he led all tackles on the night with 10 total tackles in a very physically fought game despite the high offensive outputs score wise. Marischen has a bright future for the Red Devils defensive the next two years. He is physical, has good speed and runs downhill to make plays.
Another sophomore on the Red Devils defensive who showed his lockdown cornerback skills was Dekarai Weaver Dekarai Weaver 5'9" | 165 lbs | DB Chaminade | 2026 State MO (5’11” 170) who not only used his speed and pass coverage skills to have an impressive game, but also was very physically and is a very good tackler and likes to hit. He finished with 4 tackles and a nice interception on the night. Weaver is a prospect on an upward trajectory that colleges should be taking notice of this offseason.
Steven Dyson (6’0″ 175) is yet another very talented sophomore at Chaminade who plays offense, returns kicks and plays defensive back. Dyson is another young playmaker for the Red Devils who is athletic with good speed and can cover a lot of ground in the defensive backfield. He has good ball skills and plays physical against the run. Steven had 6 tackles against the Crusaders in the win.
The Red Devils are young in a lot of positions with a freshman linebacker Arondo Irving Arondo Irving 6'0" | 210 lbs | LB Chaminade | 2027 MO ( 5’11” 195) who is their leading tackler and and among the top overall in the St. Louis area with 80 total tackles on the season. Against Lutheran St. Charles, Irving played his usual tough, physical game showing ability above the typical freshman play finishing with 8 tackles in the game. Arondo is already physically developed and has good lateral quickness, speed and bounce to run down ball carries and meet them head on. Look for big things for him over the next 3 years at Chaminade.
LUTHERAN ST. CHARLES
Cougars senior LB Jayshawn Richmond Jayshawn Richmond 6'1" | 200 lbs | DL Lutheran-St. Charles | 2024 MO played a big game and was fired up during it’s entirety. The 6’2″ 205 Richmond is fast and physical with the ability to rush the passer, play against the run and cover against backs and receivers. He showed the ability to do it all was a leader on the defense. He is a player colleges still beating the bushes for defensive prospects need to take a good look at.
Senior DL Isaiah Rubio Isaiah Rubio 6'2" | 255 lbs | DL Lutheran-St. Charles | 2024 State MO (6’2″ 260) is one of the top lineman in the St. Louis area and played both sides on the ball on the line for the Cougars. Rubio has good size, is strong and has one of the best motors you will find. He puts pressure in the backfield and does a very good job shedding blocks to make plays against the run. He is getting college looks, including from some D1 schools.
A couple of players I already mentioned on the offensive standouts also pull double duty on defense and were among the best players on the field that deserve mentions here. Linebacker Jamar Cross Jr. (6’0″ 210) and DB Kaleb Mays Kaleb Mays 5'8" | 160 lbs | DB Lutheran-St. Charles | 2024 State MO ( 5’9″ 165) who were factors for Lutheran St. Charles. Cross Jr. is a hard hitting physical defender who made plays all evening, and Mays is a speedy playmaking defensive who has very good cover skills and and plays the run equally well.
