I scouted the Bluejays’ second to final regular season game against Topeka High on October 13. Junction City wraps up its eight-game schedule with a road game at Emporia.
Here is a look at five seniors who performed well in the game. This is the first of two reports from Junction City’s 47-0 win over the Trojans.
Michael Boganowski Michael Boganowski 6'2" | 195 lbs | ATH Junction City | 2024 State KS , FS, 6’2”, 185, ‘24
Boganowski is the No. 1 ranked player in Kansas in the Class of 2024 according to the Prep Redzone rankings. He entered the game as Junction City’s leading tackler with 45. On the offensive side of the ball, he has rushed for 123 yards and two touchdowns and had seven catches for 162 yards and four touchdowns through six games. The Division I prospect finished with seven tackles and two receptions for 45 yards and a touchdown against Topeka High. He plans to announce his college of choice on October 19. His final four teams are the University of Kansas, Kansas State University, Oklahoma University, and Florida State University.
Cooper Bogenhagen Cooper Bogenhagen 5'9" | 190 lbs | LB Junction City | 2024 State KS , FB/LB, 5’9”, 190, ‘24
Bogenhagen is a physical player on both sides of the ball he plays fullback and linebacker for Junction City, In the first six games of the season he rushed for 142 yards and is second on the team in tackles with 38. He scored on a 12-yard run on the first play of the second quarter against Topeka. Bogenhagen finds a way to make tacklers miss and gain quality yardage after first contact. He also finished the night with four tackles.
Brock Bazan, QB, 5’11”, 180, ‘24
Bazan throws a nice ball. He is accurate and can throw the deep ball. He threw a 22-yard touchdown to Boganowski on the Bluejays’ first drive of the game. Bazan entered the game against Topeka High having thrown for nine touchdowns and 731 yards. Bazan did overthrow a couple of wide-open receivers in the end zone. He threw for just over 100 yards in the win and scored a touchdown on the ground.
Malaki Daniels Malaki Daniels 5'11" | 175 lbs | LB Junction City | 2024 State KS , RB/LB, 5’10”, 170, ‘24
Daniels is the Bluejays leading rusher. He entered the game against the Trojans with 439 yards gained on the ground and has scored six touchdowns. Daniels is also an explosive linebacker. He put in a workman-like effort on the ground for the Bluejays. He carried the ball 14 times for 74 yards.
Hayden Puryear Hayden Puryear 6'1" | 220 lbs | DL Junction City | 2024 State KS , DL, 6’2”, 230, ‘24
Puryear is a powerful defensive lineman who I had also seen this summer at multiple college combines. Through six games he had 16 total tackles and one fumble recovery. He has a nice combination of size and speed. I would like to see him line up at tight end and see what kind of weapon he could be. He finished with three tackles against the Trojans.
