We now have a better understanding of which teams are genuinely talented, which teams may have had a stroke of luck in the first few weeks, and which teams are looking to improve for next season. I will provide a preview for each game in week 8 by conference for the 5A level. The Mid-Willamette Conference is up next. Each game will include a prediction and highlight some players from each team to watch based on their recent performances.
#2 Silverton (7-0) @ #7 West Albany (6-1)
Prediction: Silverton def. West Albany 28-21.
This matchup is a strong candidate for game of the week, as both teams are ranked within the top ten and have legitimate chances of winning the 5A title. Personally, I am looking forward to watching this game, and I anticipate a close contest. However, I have concerns about West Albany, as they lost a game they should have won against South Albany a few weeks ago. On the other hand, Silverton dominated South Albany, beating them 42-0. Based on this, I have more faith in the Foxes to come out on top in this matchup than I do in the Bulldogs.

#10 McKay (5-2) @ Corvallis (2-5)
Prediction: McKay def. Corvallis 37-16.
McKay faced a tough challenge against Silverton in their last game, so I decided not to be too harsh on them in the rankings this week, as they still have a great record in a competitive conference. This week, McKay is expected to win against Corvallis, which will earn them their sixth win of the year. This should be enough to secure a spot in the playoffs.

Woodburn (1-6) @ #14 South Albany (3-4)
Prediction: South Albany def. Woodburn 31-13.
South Albany has achieved two impressive victories in consecutive weeks by defeating highly-ranked teams such as #7 West Albany and #15 Dallas in close games. As a result, they have secured their position among the top fifteen teams and are now close to qualifying for the playoffs. I anticipate that they will continue their winning streak by defeating Woodburn this week and bringing their win-loss record to .500. This will only enhance their chances of making it to the playoffs.

Central (1-6) @ #15 Dallas (4-3)
Prediction: Dallas def. Central 45-12.
Dallas faced a tough loss of 14-15 against South Albany last week and will be eager to win at home this week. Although Central is having a difficult season, they still have some talented players to make the game competitive. However, I believe that Dallas will eventually pull away and secure the victory.

Crescent Valley (2-5) @ Lebanon (4-3)
Prediction: Lebanon def. Crescent Valley 45-21.
It is tough to rank Lebanon’s team since they have only won against weaker teams and struggled against stronger ones, earning three losses. Although they should win this upcoming game, their playoff spot may depend on their performance against Silverton next week. Crescent Valley is a formidable opponent, as their offense can score a lot of points if not handled carefully. However, I do expect Lebanon to pull away in this one eventually.
