We now have a better understanding of which teams are genuinely talented, which teams may have had a stroke of luck in the first few weeks, and which teams are looking to improve for next season. I will provide a preview for each game in week 6 by conference for the 5A level. Up next is the Intermountain Conference. Each game will include a prediction and highlight some players from each team to watch based on their recent performances.
Important Note: Woodburn has forfeited their week 6 matchup versus #14 Lebanon. As of right now, Woodburn is planning to resume play in week 7 at home against Corvallis. Lebanon has been awarded an extra win, and they now have a record of 3-3 and will not play a game this week.
#2 West Albany (5-0) @ South Albany (1-4)
Prediction: West Albany def. South Albany 51-13.
West Albany is expected to perform well this season and has some key games coming up. While South Albany has some talented players, they are not at the same level as the Bulldogs and this particular game may not pose a significant challenge. It is likely that West Albany will secure an easy win.

#3 Silverton (5-0) @ Crescent Valley (2-3)
Prediction: Silverton def. Crescent Valley 56-28.
Silverton has been dominating the season, winning all of their first five games and making them one of the top contenders for the title this year. They are expected to be a top seed in the 5A state playoffs. Although they may face a challenging defensive challenge against Rocco McClave Rocco McClave 6'2" | 180 lbs | QB Crescent Valley | 2024 State OR , their offense is anticipated to perform well in this game. It would be exciting to see Xavier Orozco Xavier Orozco 6'0" | 220 lbs | DL Silverton | 2024 State OR return from injury for this game and compete against McClave. The Foxes are predicted to pull away early and secure the win, even if the Raiders manage to score some points.

Corvallis (2-3) @ #10 Dallas (3-2)
Prediction: Dallas def. Corvallis 35-13.
In the current conference ranking, Dallas holds the third spot and appears to be in a strong position, having already defeated McKay, who is currently ranked fourth. Their only two losses this season have been against the top two teams in the conference, Silverton and West Albany. In my opinion, Dallas is likely to win all remaining games and finish the season with a 7-2 record. This week, they are facing a solid Corvallis team, but I predict Dallas will come out on top.

#11 McKay (4-1) @ Central (1-4)
Prediction: McKay def. Central 38-16.
This year, McKay has been a pleasant surprise, winning four out of their first five games. It’s worth noting that they have not yet faced tough opponents like West Albany and Silverton, so it’s possible that they will get two extra losses, ending with a 6-3 record. Nonetheless, this is a very respectable record that should qualify them for the playoffs. This week, McKay’s challenge is to beat Central, who has already upset Crescent Valley this year. They will have to ensure they don’t look ahead to next week’s matchup versus Silverton and focus on a sneaky Central squad.
