We now have a better understanding of which teams are genuinely talented, which teams may have had a stroke of luck in the first few weeks, and which teams are looking to improve for next season. I will provide a preview for each game in week 7 by conference for the 5A level. Up first this week is the Intermountain Conference. Each game will include a prediction and highlight some players from each team to watch based on their recent performances.
Ridgeview (1-5) @ #3 Mountain View (6-0)
Prediction: Mountain View def. Ridgeview 42-7.
Mountain View has been impressive this season, and they continued their winning streak by defeating a competent Redmond team 21-10 last week. Although Angel Valenzuela Angel Valenzuela 5'11" | 205 lbs | RB Mountain View | 2026 State OR didn’t have his usual dominant game, Connor Crum Connor Crum 6'0" | 160 lbs | DB Mt View | 2024 State OR was ready to step up and threw two touchdown passes. On the other hand, Ridgeview is a better team than their current record suggests. They are in a very tough conference and are the only team not ranked in the top 15 from the Intermountain Conference. If they want to win against Mountain View, they will have to play lights out.

#4 Summit (3-3) @ #14 Redmond (3-3)
Prediction: Summit def. Redmond 28-7.
Summit’s recent performance has been impressive, especially considering their rough start to the season with three consecutive losses. They are expected to continue their winning streak this week at Redmond. However, it won’t be an easy game. Summit must focus and prepare for the upcoming game against Redmond, even if they secretly look ahead to next week’s big game against Mountain View. Redmond is a formidable team that could challenge any team, and Summit will have to work hard to secure a win. Despite this, I believe that Redmond lacks the necessary firepower to win over Summit.

#12 Bend (3-3) @ #11 Caldera (4-2)
Prediction: Bend def. Caldera 24-20.
Caldera recently won against Ridgeview, and now they are facing off against Bend, who is trying to bounce back after experiencing a tough loss to Summit. Both teams are equally talented, so this game promises to be close. If I had to make a prediction, I would say that Bend will come out on top by a narrow margin. Get ready for an exciting game!
