Every Sunday and Monday we take a look back at the previous week and what we learned this week. We are going to shine a spotlight on some teams and players that shined in week two. It was a busy week of high school football and let’s take a brief look back to last week.
The Fayetteville Bulldogs were at Harmon Field for week two. Fayetteville always plays well at home and that was especially true last Friday night. The Bulldogs were effective in all phases of the game against Fort Smith Northside. Over the past few weeks, Drake Lindsey Drake Lindsey 6'3" | 180 lbs | QB Fayetteville | 2024 State AR has displayed a strong and accurate arm and he did not disappoint Friday. Running back Kaleb Johnson Kaleb Johnson 5'7" | 165 lbs | RB Fayetteville | 2026 State AR found the end zone against Northside in a 56-0 victory for the Bulldogs. Fayetteville appears to be clicking on all cylinders as they enter conference play.
Meanwhile, a few miles down Highway-62 the Lincoln Wolves and Mena Bearcats played an exciting contest. The Wolves and Bearcats were in a close contest most of the night Friday night. Lincoln Wolves quarterback Drew Moore Drew Moore 6'2" | 200 lbs | QB Lincoln | 2024 State AR and running back Kale Jones Kale Jones 5'10" | 185 lbs | RB Lincoln | 2025 State AR had strong performances on Friday night. Meanwhile, Mena signal caller Dax McMellon Dax McMellon 6'3" | 205 lbs | QB Sheridan | 2026 State AR had an impressive outing for the Bearcats. Lincoln pulled off the win 45-42 and earned a 3-0 record in the process. Lincoln has a bye week this week and the Bearcats take on Riverview. Both teams lit up Friday in one of the best games of the night.
We close out the week two recap with a look at the Fort Smith Southside Mavericks. Southside is off to a 3-0 start to the season. The rushing attack for the Mavericks has been terrific this season. Isaac Gregory Isaac Gregory 5'9" | 180 lbs | RB Fort Smith Southside | 2024 State AR and Amari Tucker Amari Tucker 5'7" | 170 lbs | RB Fort Smith Southside | 2024 State AR provided a great one-two punch and were impressive Friday night against Wynne. Fort Smith Southside heads into the bye week and preparations will begin for the Rogers Mounties. It was a fun week in the high school ranks and I look forward to week three.
