KJ Rhodes
KJ Rhodes
The junior slot receiver put up monster numbers in Willowbrook’s win over Addison Trail last Friday. Rhodes, a wide receiver and defensive back, accounted for 222 yards on 7 catches, tallying 2 touchdowns as well. Defensively, Rhodes had several pass break ups that helped the Warrior defense get off the field. Rhodes is an explosive player, proving time and again that he’s hard to stop with the ball in his hands. He is extremely shifty and possesses strong balance and vision that allows him to break tackles in the opening field. Keep an eye out for Rhodes throughout the fall.
McThenia led the Hurricanes to their first win of the season on Friday, as the senior quarterback posted a 78% completion percentage on 23 passing attempts. What’s even more impressive is that McThenia accounted for 335 yards and 6 touchdowns for Marian Central. He has a powerful arm with strong accuracy, as McThenia can push the ball down the field with velocity to drop the ball in over his defenders. He did just that all last Friday night and is sure to continue dropping dimes throughout the season.
Highlights
Milivojevic helped the Spartans to their first conference win of the season over St. Laurence. The St. Francis signal caller totaled 305 yards and 4 touchdowns, as the Spartan offense put 41 on the board. Milivojevic, who committed to Ball State University over the summer, showed off his patience and poise all night long. He has a strong arm and next level anticipation that allows him to throw receivers open. Milivojevic is impressive when throwing on the run, as he places the ball with elite accuracy. Milivojevic possesses all the tools, as the senior quarterback will continue to put up strong numbers before he heads off to the next level.
Highlights
The Crystal Lake Central running back is putting together an impressive season, as the senior had 16 touches for 145 yards and 4 touchdowns in the Tiger’s rout over Dundee-Crown. The first thing that stands out about Buehler is his speed, as the one-cut back makes defenses pay for over pursuing. However, Buehler isn’t just a one-trick pony. He is extremely fluid when running laterally and isn’t afraid to lower his shoulder to run through tackles. His combination of speed, power, and agility will surely set up Buehler for a strong senior campaign.
Joey Maucieri
Joey Maucieri
Maucieri showcased a strong performance as the Dukes rolled to another win. York has had an impressive start to their season, scoring over 35 points in all 3 of their games and limiting opponents to just 12 points per game. Maucieri has been a big part of that, as the senior linebacker impacts the game in a variety of ways. He posted 10 total tackles last Friday, with 2 of them being for loss. Maucieri does a variety of things for the Dukes, as he is a stout tackler in the box, as well as a dangerous pass rusher on the edge. As York continues to stay hot, look out for Maucieri contributions down the stretch.
