Dalyn Upshaw Dalyn Upshaw 6’0″ | 180 lbs | WR Central | 2025 State AL , a standout wide receiver for Central High School, delivered a jaw-dropping performance in their recent game against Enterprise. Upshaw is a top tier WR in the 2025 class and has started off this season very strong- last week Upshaw showcased his skills with four catches for an impressive 159 yards and two touchdowns as well. His ability to find the end zone repeatedly made him the focal point of Central’s offense last Friday- and rightfully so as he is a true game-changer on the field. Upshaw acted as a great deep threat for his team and was able to make some massive plays downfield – it was near impossible for Enterprise’s defense to contain his explosive playmaking abilities. Upshaw committed to Auburn earlier this year and has a heck of a season lined up for him this fall- keep track of him!
Devon Cooper Devon Cooper WR James Clemens | 2024 State AL has been a really reliable wide receiver for James Clemens the last few years, and last week he was a force to be reckoned with in their recent matchup against Bob Jones. Cooper’s explosiveness and reliable hands were on full display as he hauled in six receptions for 187 yards and was able to find the end zone twice in the 40-13 victory. James Clemens ended up having a dominant offensive performance in this game largely in part to Coopers ability to stretch the field and the two crucial touchdowns he was able to haul in as well. Cooper has a knack for making acrobatic catches and gaining yards after the catch- keep an eye on him the remainder of this year- he’s one explosive wide out!
Garrett Ames Garrett Ames 6’1″ | 190 lbs | QB Mortimer Jordan | 2024 State AL is a talented quarterback for Mortimer Jordan, and put the state on notice with how the way proved how talented of a passer he is in last week’s matchup against Gardendale. Ames showcased his precision by completing 14 out of 21 passing attempts for an impressive 323 yards and four touchdowns. His ability to read the defense and deliver pinpoint throws was a game-changer for his team- Gardendale’s secondary seriously struggled to find a way to contain big passes down field. Not only did Ames excel through the air, but he also demonstrated his versatility by contributing 53 rushing yards on nine carries with a rushing touchdown as well. Ames’s all-around performance was terrific and showed how dynamic of a player he is for Mortimer Jordan- keep an eye on him and this offense as we head further into this fall!
Jaylen Mbakwe Jaylen Mbakwe 5’11” | 165 lbs | DB Clay-Chalkville | 2024 State AL , the unbelievably talented athlete and quarterback for Clay Chalkville, delivered an electrifying performance in the first half against Pell City. Mbakwe has been highly recruited throughout his whole high school career at DB but has been lining up at QB this season and man, he’s been going off. Mbakwe showcased his versatility and athleticism by accounting for a total of five touchdowns-he threw two touchdown passes, displaying his precision as a passer, and then took matters into his own hands with three rushing touchdowns as well. With 258 yards of total offense, Mbakwe had an unbelievable first-half performance that ultimately won his team the game last week. Mbakwe, an Alabama commit, is set for a massive senior season this fall- be sure to watch him- that kind of talent and speed is rare!
