These articles will be highlighting top performances by position each week, I wanted to say there are MANY other running backs who could be put on this list. I am listing the players who’s stat line stood out, who people recommended, and players who either I watched live or was able to watch highlights from their specific game. For the best chance to be featured, send me your weekly film on twitter. My handle is “@DevinRecord”, please don’t have any hard feelings if you weren’t included.
Colton Magruder
Colton Magruder
Colton flies under the radar, in my eyes. He is a stud on the field and always keeps his legs moving with the ball in his hands. He effectively hits holes hard and does so every single play. He dominated during his week 1 performances and had 16 rushes for 175 yards and 2 TD’s on the night. He will look to continue to dominate defenses in the future weeks.
This Nooksack Valley running back/athlete is one of the best in the entire 2025 class. When he is in the open field, he is impossible to bring down, having amazing elusiveness and vision. He is a contender for 1A pre-season player of the year and he came out ready to go week 1. The Pioneers had 404 yards rushing on the ground as a team, but Colton contributed 15 rushes for 97 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Aiden Watkins
Aiden Watkins
Aiden is a phenomenal athlete. He has a high basketball IQ and sees the field very well with the ball in his hands. He catches the ball out of the outfield very well and uses his athleticism to get by defenders. Week 1 he rushed the ball for 15 times, gaining 110 yards and compiling 4 touchdowns on the night. I think Watkins is a player coaches need to have on their radars for the rest of the season.
Luke is a playmaker on both sides of the ball. Last year he was a dominating linebacker and also contributed well offensively. During week 1 he had a very impressive performances on both sides. He ran the ball 19 times for 141 yards and a touchdown. He also compiled 11 tackles on defense. Myklebust is going to be a name to know going forward.
Highlights
This small school athlete is the best athlete that you may not know. And you should know his name. Brody is one of the top playmakers, regardless of class. He out-plays his competition on a regular basis and is just all over the field every game. During week 1, he played only a quarter and half (due to team winning by a lot) and he was able to rush for 183 yards and 4 TD’s on 10 rushes.
