These articles will be highlighting top performances by position each week, I wanted to say there are MANY other linebackers who could be put on this list. I am listing the players who’s stat line stood out, who people recommended, and players who either I watched live or was able to watch highlights from their specific game. For the best chance to be featured, send me your weekly film on twitter. My handle is “@DevinRecord”, please don’t have any hard feelings if you weren’t included.
Luke is a very active linebacker and impresses me every time I watch a new highlight of his. He impressed on both sides of the ball during week 1, contributing big on the offensive side. For the defensive side of the ball, he was all over the place. Luke got involved in nearly every play, and was able to rack up 11 tackles on the night.
Highlights

Darrell Gipson Darrell Gipson 6'3" | 235 lbs | DL Timberline | 2024 State WA Jr
Darrell is a top overall athlete within the entire class, maybe even state. He is a freak athlete and is all over the place on defense, every single week. He is a big time difference maker and is a player who makes an impact week in and week out. During week 1 he racked up 6 tackles (3 for loss), 2 sacks, and 3 passes broken up. He is going to make any quarterback he goes up against have a very long night.
Alex Juhl
Alex Juhl
Alex has a great frame, standing 6’4″, making it hard for quarterbacks to get the passes by/over him. He is quick on the field and recovers well when he needs too. Juhl hits hard too, so ball carriers need to be aware. He was able get an interception on the night and also force a fumble.
Everyone knows the name Zaydrius Rainey-Sale Zaydrius Rainey-Sale 6’3″ | 220 lbs | LB Bethel | 2025 State WA if you follow high school football within the state of Washington. He is a big time player who is 100% a Division 1 talent. He plays well every single week so he could easily be picked weekly. During week 1 he was causing the opposing quarterback HAVOC. He has MANY QB pressures and tackles for losses, rarely letting the opposing ball carrier get by him. He hits hard, so hard you can tell it’s a big impact every tackle he makes, even just watching his highlight.
Matthew Zhou
Matthew Zhou
Matthew impressed me last year during his junior year with his relentless attack of the ball and the unwillingness to give up on the play. During week 1, he showed even more growth since the last season happened. He is a big time contributor on both sides of the ball, racking up over 100 total yards and a touchdown offensively. He had 4 tackles for losses and 2 passes broken up on the defensive side. Keep an eye out for Matthew this season.
