These articles will be highlighting top performances by position each week, I wanted to say there are MANY other defensive backs who could be put on this list. I am listing the players who’s stat line stood out, who people recommended, and players who either I watched live or was able to watch highlights from their specific game. For the best chance to be featured, send me your weekly film on twitter. My handle is “@DevinRecord”, please don’t have any hard feelings if you weren’t included.
Canyon is going to have a big time season during his junior year. He is a main play-maker for this Stanwood team and will contribute weekly on both sides of the ball. During his week 1 game, he rushed for 77 yards and a touchdown but was also everywhere on the defensive side of the ball. He contributed 9 tackles and 4 pass break ups on the night.
Landen is an up and coming player in the 1A class. He contributes on the defensive side in a very big way, being a leader on that side of the ball. He is relentless on the court and will do anything to get involved in every tackle. He plays aggressive and always on his toes, being ready for anything. He had 9.5 tackles (1 for loss) and a pass broken up during week 1.
Highlights
Arlo Henderson Jr
Arlo Henderson Jr
Arlo is one of my favorite defensive backs to watch. He is all over the place and gets involved in the play often. This Yelm team is stacked with athletes but Arlo is up there with being one of the most athletic. He locked down his side of the field during week 1, allowing 0 passes. He also had an interception to save a touchdown and contributed 4 tackles and 3 more passes broken up.
David is a top athlete within the entire state of Washington, regardless of class. Right before the season started he was able to receive an offer from Nebraska. He is easily a D1 talent and could grow into the states top defensive back. He has great speed and closes gaps extremely fast. He had an interception week 1 to go along with 4 tackles (1 for loss) and 3 passes broken up.
D’Aryhian impresses me every single time I watch him play. He has elite speed, elite reaction time, elite hands, Clemons posses every single attribute it takes to play Division 1 football as a defensive back. Clemons contributed 2 touchdowns on the offensive side as well as one on the defensive side. He was able to grab an interception that he read PERFECTLY and brought it back 24 yards for a TD. Check the link below to see that play.
