It all starts tonight! High school football in Kansas returns on turf and grass fields all over the state.

Just about eight hours from kickoff here is one last report to satisfy everyone's need for a football fix.

This report focuses on five, I repeat five, college-level prospects from Sunflower League schools. Each one is a senior and all five are key players in their team's offensive lineup.

[player_tooltip player_id='545364' first='TJ' last='Porter'], RB, 5'6”, 155, Olathe North

The Olathe North Eagles have a dangerous running back. Porter rushed for 1,232 yards and scored 14 rushing touchdowns. The senior running back is an elusive runner who is tough to catch. He hit the hole in the blink of an eye and is patient enough to set up his blockers.

[player_tooltip player_id='415284' first='Bryce' last='Noernberg'], QB, 5'10”, 165, Olathe South

Noernberg is a dual-threat senior quarterback, He threw for 1,491 yards and rushed for 885 yards. He accounted for 31 total touchdowns. He has a quick release and can throw on the run. He is a smart athlete who plays with poise and patience. He also plays lacrosse for Olathe South.

[player_tooltip player_id='1194054' first='Dawson' last='Kindler'], RB, 6'0”, 200, Gardner-Edgerton

The Trailblazers return on the most productive running backs from the 2022 season. Kindler rushed for 30 touchdowns and rushed for 1,500-plus yards as a junior. He plays fullback in the Blazer's flex-bone offense. He is a legit college prospect who could stay at fullback or tailback, but would also be a dangerous player at tight end and guard.

[player_tooltip player_id='415320' first='Wesley' last='Edison'], QB, 6'3”, 175, Free State

Edison is a college prospect in football and basketball. He threw for 928 yards, rushed for 884 yards, and had 20 total touchdowns. He can play any defensive back position and would contribute on special teams right away. He might not play QB at the next level, but he is athletically and versatile enough to find a spot on the field if he wants. He can play small forward or shooting guard in basketball.

[player_tooltip player_id='262783' first='Noah' last='Gunion'], RB, 6'0”, 175, Shawnee Mission West

Gunion had an injury-shortened season in 2022, so he flying a little below the radar. College coaches best not sleep on him in 2023 because he is a fast and explosive weapon on offense. He also plays cornerback and would look salty lining up as a slot. If he proves he is healthy in 2023 he will get some college looks. He is a solid character guy and one that NAIA and JUCO programs should want in their locker rooms.
