Defensive Linemen
Papaseea Matelau || DL || 6’0 || 245 || East High School || 2024
Matelau was a man against boys in the Panthers besting of Coronado, Nevada. The Panthers top pass rusher had seven tackles and two sacks. Matelau has five sacks in just the last two weeks and is heating up heading into region play.
Iakopo Malufau Iakopo Malufau 5'10" | 235 lbs | DL Skyridge | 2025 State UT || DL || 5’10 || 230 || Skyridge High School || 2025
Malufau made multiple plays up front against a stout Bingham offensive line. The talented defensive end had five tackles and 1.5 sacks in the week four win. Malufau uses his hands well when getting after the quarterbacks and plays with a great motor.
Brighton Tate || DL || 6’1 || 210 || Timpanogos High School || 2024
The Timpanogos defensive end had four tackles and one sack in the Timberwolves win over Toole. Tate already has over 25 tackles and has at least one sack in each game this season. He’s an elite run defender and excels at getting after quarterbacks
Kavika Bringhurst || DL || 6’2 || 205 || Maple Mountain High School || 2024
Bringhurst had six tackles and two sacks in Maple Mountains loss to Lehi. He’s a stout defensive lineman who does a good job taking on blockers and freeing up his teammates to make plays. He’s had at least 1.5 sacks in each of his past two games and relentlessly chases quarterbacks.
Linebackers
Nate Sheets || LB || 5’11 || 194 || Olympus High School || 2025
Sheets was all over the field for the Titans defense in their hard-fought week four loss to West. Sheets helped hold the Panthers under 20 by racking up 20 tackles. He takes great angles when closing in on ball carriers and does a great job wrapping up.
Judson Boyakin || LB || 5’11 || 170 || Hillcrest High School || 2024
Boyakin had 16 tackles in a tough loss to Park City. He’s had over 10 tackles in four games, and this was his second game with over 15 tackles. Boyakin possesses elite sideline-to-sideline speed that helps him to make play after play.
Cannon Montgomery || LB || 6’0 || 170 || Mountain Ridge High School || 2025
Montgomery helped Mountain Ridge get a tough road win against Lone Peak. He had 10 tackles as he relentlessly pursued the talented supporting cast the Knights have. Montgomery is a huge reason the Sentinels have gotten off to a great start.
Foti Vaebuku || LB || West High School || 2024
Vaebuku had 14 tackles vs. Olympus as they shut down the Titans offense in the second half. Vaebuku’s ability to quickly diagnose what an offense is doing is remarkable and helps him to make plays behind the line of scrimmage.
