Continue ReadingI was on the sidelines for the matchup between the schools on Friday night. Southern Lee was able to sustain a few drives with their running game throughout the game. Eastern Randolph was to overpower Southern Lee with a potent passing game mixed with running plays throughout the game. Eastern Randolph ended the game with a 36 – 15 victory. The players listed performances caught my attention throughout the game.
Eastern Randolph HS
Carter Revelle Carter Revelle 6'4" | 200 lbs | QB Eastern Randolph | 2024 State NC – QB, 6’4″ 195 (No. 17 QB, No. 147 Overall). Carter displayed calmness in the pocket while leading the offensive unit throughout the game. He displayed good arm strength on short and medium range throws. He displayed good ball velocity and accuracy on slant passes on target to the receivers. Carter completed 19 of 26 passes for 305 yards and 4 TDs. He tucked it and ran to avoid being sacked and finished with 46 rushing yards. Carter had an impressive performance and recruiting interest is expected to speed up for him.
Nicah Taylor – WR, 6’2″ 160. Nicah ran good pass routes and good separation from defenders to make catches. He displayed concentration while making catches in traffic. He displayed speed to accelerate past defenders after the catch for big yardage. Nicah had 13 receptions for 238 yards and 3 TDs. He plays on both sides of the ball for his team. Nicah had an impressive offensive performance which should generate recruiting interest.
Lucas Smith – RB, 6’0″ 205. Lucas followed blockers while looking for an opening. He ran with power and balance while running inside on a few plays. He finished the game with 52 rushing yards.
Jani Norwood Jani Norwood 6'4" | 305 lbs | OL Eastern Randolph | 2024 State NC – OL, 6’4″ 305 (No. 4 OL, No. 24 Overall). Jani displayed good footwork and technique to control defenders while opening lanes for the running backs. He displayed upper body strength and quickness to drive-block defenders out of the play. He displayed a solid base while protecting the quarterback on passing plays. Jani plays on both sides of the ball for his team. He has received a Power5 offer, more are expected to come in for him.
Ladaryian Spinks – OL, 6’1″ 210. Ladaryian displayed good footwork and technique to control defenders while opening lanes for the running backs. He displayed a solid base while protecting the quarterback on passing plays.
Southern Lee HS
Robbie Sims – QB, 6’0″ 165. Robbie displayed good arm strength on short range passes. He only threw a few passes throughout the game. He primarily handed the ball off to the running backs throughout the game. Robbie ran on a few plays to avoid being sacked and gained yards.
Tyrice Douglas – RB, 5’9″ 180. Tyrice followed blockers while looking for an opening to gain yards. He displayed good balance and vision while running inside. He displayed speed to accelerate past defenders in the open field to gain yards. Tyrice displayed durability while leading the running game.
Nathan Coley – OL, 6’3″ 265. Nathan displayed good footwork and technique to control defenders while opening lanes for the running backs. He displayed upper body strength and quickness while drive-blocking defenders out of the play. He displayed good speed while run blocking.
Donnie Williams – OL, 5’11” 255. Donnie displayed good footwork and technique to control defenders while opening lanes for the running backs. He was quick out of his stance to make contact with defenders and drive-blocking them out of the play. Donnie is the anchor of the offensive line unit.
Caleb Waters – OL, 6’4″ 270. Caleb displayed good footwork and technique to control defenders while opening lanes for the running backs. He displayed upper body strength and quickness to drive-block defenders out of the play. He displayed good speed and agility while run blocking.
