Tanner Ennis – Bryan County
A tough, hard-hitting athlete from the Savannah area, Ennis had dominated in all aspects of the game so far this season. A do-it-all player, Ennis had made a big impact on offense, catching four passes for over 100 yards and two touchdowns. But defensively, Ennis has been one of the best in South Georgia. Through two games, Ennis has made 28 tackles and a combined 6.5 TFLs. He can fly to the football and knows how to deliver a sound, fundamental tackle when he gets there. He’s a true football magnet, so expect him to continue this excellent play throughout his senior season. He’s doing it all right now, and it’s been very impressive.
Tereon Jones – Cook County
A tackling machine in South Georgia, Jones is off to a strong start to his junior season, making 9 tackles in a week one 28-0 win over Pelham and 16 tackles in a 37-20 loss to Valdosta. He’s one of the leading tacklers across the state and one of the early leaders in South Georgia. Look for him to keep playing at a high level during this all-important junior season.
One of the most productive linebackers across Georgia last year, Steward is coming off a fantastic junior season where he made an eye-opening 123 tackles. He An impressive-looking prospect from a physical standpoint, Steward is listed as 6-foot-1 235-pounds and brings a physical presence to the Tigers’ defense. A heavy-hitter who doesn’t miss tackles, Steward does a good job of controlling the middle of the field and proved he’s a downhill linebacker who excels against the run. He’s one of the leading returning linebackers in the area and across South Georgia, and it looks like he has plans to light up the stat sheet again in 2023.
Eric Brantley – Valdosta
One of the top defensive lineman not only in South Georgia, but across the peach-state. Brantley is an incredibly productive senior interior lineman who knows how to shred an offense. He’s big, powerful, and knows how to get off blocks and attack the ball-carrier. Last year, the current Colorado commitment made an impressive 32 TFLs. He lived in the backfield and it doing it again as a senior. He’s made 10 TFLs already through the first two games, making a tackle behind the line of scrimmage an amazing seven times during a week two win over Cook. A natural at the position at 6-foot-2 250-pounds, Brantley is quick off the line and can blow up any particular play. So far this fall, the Valdosta standout has made 21 tackles to go along with his 10 TFLs with three sacks and four more QB hurries. He’s without a doubt one of the top overall defenders in Georgia this year.
