Osakis Flips the Momentum After the Delay to Defeat Holdingford
HOLDINGFORD, MN-- We took our live-game scouting talents to small town America which last night was Holdingford, MN (pop. 743) but the Huskers were to me a team to watch for in Class 2A. However, in the end, the Osakis Silverstreaks (fantastic team name) spoiled homecoming for the #7 ranked Huskers in 2A as they used a lightning delay to rest and regenerate momentum after the 45-minute delay. Let's recap what we saw last night.
1st Quarter
Holdingford:
Huskers 2024 quarterback Drew Lange finds 2025 RB Luke Bieniek over the middle for a 79-yard passing touchdown in which Bieniek got over the top of the Silverstreaks secondary up the middle for the Huskers first touchdown of the day. Two point conversion good. Holdingford 8, Osakis 0. End of 1st Quarter
2nd Quarter
Osakis:
The Silverstreaks struck very early in the second quarter for their first touchdown of the game as stud Osakis 2024 quarterback Kyle Mages Kyle Mages 6'1" | 175 lbs | ATH Osakis | 2024 State MN found his durable 2024 running back in Andrew Imdieke for a 40+ yard touchdown. This play was stretched out by Imdieke, as he turned nothing into something with a short pass turned into big points to get the Osakis on the board. Holdingford 8, Osakis 8. 11:14 left in the half.
Osakis:
After the family connection of 2024 quarterback Kyle Mages Kyle Mages 6'1" | 175 lbs | ATH Osakis | 2024 State MN to 2024 tight end Grant Mages for a 50+ yard gain to flip the field on the Huskers defense, Kyle found a huge gapping hole up the A-gap from the Silverstreaks sizable offensive line to scamper in for a 15-yard rushing touchdown, his second of the quarter to give the Silverstreaks their first lead of the ball game. Osakis 16, Holdingford 8. 6:02 left in the half.
Holdingford:
The consistency of the connection over the middle in the passing game between Drew Lange and Luke Bieniek continued in quarter number two as Lange found Bieniek again with 30 seconds left in the first half to get the Huskers within two points entering halftime. Osakis 16, Holdingford 14. Halftime
3rd Quarter
Holdingford:
After converting on a 3rd and 19 by yet another pass and reception by Drew Lange to Luke Bieniek, Drew Lange struck again with a 19-yard passing touchdown right in front of me in which 2025 wide receiver Garret Frink made an impressive diving catch in the front of the end zone to give the Huskers the lead in which they would get the two point conversion as well. Holdingford 22, Osakis 16
Osakis:
After a 62-yard run by 2024 running back Gavin Cimbura getting the Silverstreaks deep into the redzone, it was the fullback power by 6'0 215 pound 2024 fullback Wyatt Sell who got the Silverstreaks in the end zone from 1-yard out to tie the game at 22. The Silverstreaks would be unsuccessful at getting the 2 point conversion leaving this game a tie. Osakis 22, Holdingford 22
Lightning Delay
Right after the Silverstreaks scored their touchdown with 4:36 left in the 3rd quarter, this game went into the 45-minute lightning delay which you will find out how the Osakis broke this game open closing in further with their momentum after tying the game with their last touchdown. The Huskers were winning the stamina battle but that all changed after the lightning delay.
Osakis:
I noticed particularly on this drive that the Silverstreaks controlled all elements with their massive offensive front with their running game, which was bound to happen with how much more size and power Osakis had compared to Holdingford's speed. In the end, it was 2024 quarterback Kyle Mages Kyle Mages 6'1" | 175 lbs | ATH Osakis | 2024 State MN again with his third total touchdown of the day (2nd rushing) in which the Osakis offense completely fooled the Huskers with who had the ball, as the Huskers realized who had the football as Mages walked into the left edge of the end zone from 14-yards out. Two point conversion is no good. Osakis 28, Holdingford 22. 48 seconds left in the 3rd quarter.
4th Quarter
Osakis:
To no one's surprise at this point, it was the 4th total touchdown of the game by 2024 quarterback Kyle Mages Kyle Mages 6'1" | 175 lbs | ATH Osakis | 2024 State MN but this time he used all he fluidity in his running ability to stretch for a 48-yard rushing touchdown for the Silverstreaks which would be his 3rd rushing touchdown and the last score we would see in this game. The scoring difference after the delay was 12-0 in advantage of the Silverstreaks. Osakis 34, Holdingford 22. Final
| #7 Holdingford (4-1) | 8 | 6 | 8 | 0 | 22 |
| Osakis (4-1) | 0 | 16 | 12 | 6 | 34 |
