This past week, we saw some true athletes deliver, using all of their skillsets in order to give their teams an edge. The players below all did more than expected, and showed that good things happen with the ball in their possession. These are players who will be talked about much throughout the season so get familiar with the names!
Jacorey Watson Jacorey Watson 5'10" | 170 lbs | WR Shadow Creek | 2025 State TX | ATH | Shadow Creek | 2024
Watson put the talent on display vs a tough opponent and showed why he is a highly sought after recruit. He made plays out of very little in the pocket and helped will his team in a comeback victory. Watson used both his legs and arm to pick through the opposing defense and put up a stat line of 17/27 for 167 passing yards and 3 touchdowns, and added 100 yards on 11 carries along with 2 touchdowns.
Cole Allen | ATH | St. Johns | 2025
Allen had himself a game, running for 213 yards and 2 touchdowns on 20 carries, including a 95 yard scamper where he ducked through the line and outran the secondary for the score in an impressive fashion. He also added 86 receiving yards on 5 receptions showing off his hands, and helped his team get the important dub. Allen showed toughness, ability to finish runs, navigate through blocks, and get up the field. He has had a great start to the season.
Harrison Mass | QB | Cy Springs | 2024
Mass was dialing up the deep ball all game long, launching it and hitting his receivers for the big plays. Mass was making the correct reads throughout the game, getting to the outside and beating defenders with his legs using his athleticism, and was calm in the pocket, delivering strikers to his weapons. Mass threw for 278 yards and 6 touchdowns (!!!) on 11/16 passing, and added 128 rushing yards on 7 carries in a blowout win.
Adam Buffington | WR | Friendswood | 2024
Buffington was a YAC monster vs Kemper. He showed his ability to break out of tackles and change gears to outrun defenders after the catch. Buffington’s strong hands were on display and his skill with the ball in his hands can change games. Buffington hauled in 7 catches for 198 yards and 3 touchdowns.
