#1 (Last Week #1) Oak Grove (3-0)
Through 3 weeks, the Warriors continue to have among the most impressive resumes in the state. Very interesting MAIS matchup on deck.
Last week: Beat Hattiesburg 32-14
This week: vs. MRA
#2 (#2) Starkville (3-0)
The Jackets also hold onto their spot at #2 but are nipping at the heels of Oak Grove. Road trip to Meridian last week proved not to be much of a test at all. Top 5 matchup this Friday night will be appointment viewing.
Last week: Beat Meridian 42-21
This week: vs. #5 Louisville
#3 (#3) Tupelo (3-0)
The Golden Wave is solidly gripping 3rd place in the rankings. 3 weeks in and the nasty Tupelo defense has only given up 7 points on the season. First true road test of the season coming up this week.
Last week: Beat Hernando 40-0
This week: @ Oxford
#4 (#4) Madison Central (3-0)
In what was probably the matchup of the week, the Jags had a monster 4th qtr scoring 20 points to win on the road at Gulfport.
Last week: Beat Gulfport 23-21
This week: @ Northwest Rankin
#5 (#5) Louisville (3-0)
Larger classification, Columbus, was no match for the Wildcats last Friday night. Time to find out just how for real Louisville is this week.
Last week: Beat Columbus 45-20
This week: @ Starkville
#6 (#6) Picayune (2-1)
Back to their winning ways, the Maroon Tide took care of D’Iberville on Friday. This week: @ #8 Gulfport
#7 (#10) Pearl (3-0)
The Pirates are this week’s biggest mover going from #10 to #7 after starting out 3-0. Hard fought victory over Brookhaven last week after the emotional OT win over Warren Central two weeks ago.
Last week: Beat Brookhaven 27-20
This week: vs. Ridgeland
#8 (#7) Gulfport (2-1)
The 4th qtr Friday night was an absolute battle against Madison Central, but the Admirals came up just short. Due to that they only fall one spot this week. Life doesn’t get easier this week.
Last week: Lost to #4 Madison Central 23-21
This week: vs. #6 Picayune
#9 (#9) Holmes County (3-0)
MAIS, Canton Academy, was no match on Friday night. An off week is on deck.
Last week: Beat Canton Academy 59-27
This week: OFF
#10 (NR) Warren Central (2-1)
After dropping an overtime thriller two weeks ago to Pearl, the Vikings bounced back taking care of Germantown. With that they step back into the power rankings.
Last week: Beat Germantown 21-3
This week: vs. Brandon
