We are going to take a look at some players that opened some eyes this week. Time to shine a spotlight on some players that had strong performances this week.
Mabrey Mettauer Mabrey Mettauer 6'5" | 215 lbs | QB The Woodlands | 2024 State TX -Quarterback-The Woodlands-2024
The Woodlands signal caller had a monster night on Friday. Mettauer had the opportunity to put his strong arm on display. He threw for 429 yards and 6 touchdowns. Meanwhile, Mettauer was able to use his legs as well to the tune of racking up 103 yards on the ground. Mettauer punched the ball into the end zone for a touchdown. The Woodlands quarterback is looking strong early in September. The future Wisconsin Badger is opening plenty of eyes in the process.
Tradarian Ball Tradarian Ball 5'11" | 185 lbs | RB Texas High | 2026 State TX -Running Back-Texas-2026
The Texas High running back had a strong performance this week. Ball made the most of his seven carries and exploded for 242-yards on the ground. He found the end zone twice on Friday this week. However, he was not finished. Ball tacked on a punt return for a touchdown. Ball is a prospect that I expect big things from over the next couple of seasons. He is a prospect with the speed and ability to make people miss that has the potential to play on Saturdays in the future.
Romel Jordan-Running Back-Katy-2024
Romel Jordan just got stronger as the game went on this week against Tompkins. Jordan can carry the ball between the tackles and just punish the defense. Meanwhile, he has the speed to cut the run to the outside down the sideline. Jordan carried the ball 20 times for 112-yards and 2 touchdowns on the night. Jordan is a player to watch out for as the season progresses this season.
Ethan Wright Ethan Wright 5'10" | 170 lbs | ATH Euless Trinity | 2025 TX -Wide Receiver-Cypress Creek-2025
Ethan Wright Ethan Wright 5'10" | 170 lbs | ATH Euless Trinity | 2025 TX does a great job of running crisp routes. Wright showcased his route running ability to get open on Friday night. He hauled in 7 receptions for 111 yards this week. When Cypress Creek needed a big reception to extend the drive, Wright found his way open. The Cypress Creek wide receiver is a player to watch out for over the next couple of seasons.
Rudy Garcia-Wide Receiver-Eastwood-2024
The Eastwood High School wide receiver had a great night on Friday. Garcia made great use of his speed and ability to make defenders miss this week. Garcia hauled in 5 receptions for 101 yards, 1 touchdown, and he added a two-point conversion to the mix. He is a difficult wide receiver for opposing defensive backs to contain. I expect a big season for the Eastwood wide receiver over the course of the rest of the season.
