Ryley might have put on the best show of the entire evening. He was making difficult and contested catches the entire game, and had a couple times where he straight up took over a drive. He ran really clean routes, and showed off great hands. No drops, no unfinished routes, and he ran hard when he caught the ball to maximize yardage. I am excited to see the kind of production he puts up this season, because he definitely put himself on the map with that performance.
Owen Mikulka
Owen Mikulka
Another receiver with a huge night for Ithaca was Owen Mikulka. He had 3 TDs and easily surpassed 125 yards on the night. He came alive quickly and was just running through the SSC secondary. He showed a great vertical leap, athleticism with changing direction on his routes, and sure hands. There were quite a few examples of him getting open when everything else seemed covered. I came away really impressed, and I could see him really being a good prospect for the next level. Ithaca will need him to continue to be this productive, and I think he’s up to the challenge.
Jackson Conn
Jackson Conn
Of course the WRs played well, but it can’t happen without a fantastic QB. Jackson was all that and more Thursday night. Conn threw for over 400 yards and ended up with 5 TDs. It was a great effort, and I was super impressed with the way he stepped in and took control of the offense. He was accurate, showed off a deep ball ability, and made good decisions, as he didn’t have a single interception all night long. He got it done on the ground as well, running over defenders and putting moves on to get to the 2nd and 3rd level. It was a great effort from the QB, and if he can continue this trend, Ithaca should feel very good about their chances in the division.
SSC was kept in this game in part by this guy. He was a workhorse all game long. He ran hard every play, his effort was unmatched. Jacob had quite a few plays where it looked broken, and he was able to wiggle his way for positive yardage. His legs never quit chopping through contact, and pretty much always fell forward for positive yards. Jacob was someone I was unfamiliar with heading into this game, but I am glad I got the pleasure to watch him work!
Brody Sullivan
Brody Sullivan
In a battle of Junior QBs, Brody was awesome as well. He did a lot of damage on the ground, and was able to make plays when they needed it to keep the Panthers in it. There were a plethora of things that went wrong for SSC, but the QB was not one. He’s got a good arm, but I truly believe he’s a better runner. The ground attack of Jacob and Jacob Bartlett Jacob Bartlett 6’0″ | 195 lbs | RB Standish-Sterling Central | 2024 MI gave Ithaca trouble on the ground quite often. I think SSC will be a tough out because of his grit and ability to find gaps in the defense.
Elijah Cottrell
Elijah Cottrell
Standish has to feel pretty good about the performance of the offensive line on Thursday night. Elijah is a leader along that line, and he was fantastic. He’s a physical kid with a lot of athleticism for a big guy. He’s got pretty good footwork, strong hands and is able to fire off the ball well. He had a plethora of pancakes and examples of finishing off blocks. It doesn’t seem that he has a TON of practice pass protecting, but it seemed he was solid at that as well naturally. If he got to the next level and was able to develop that, I think he would be just fine! Cottrell has been on my radar for awhile now, and I look forward to continuing to watch him develop.
