We are two games in (three for some), and we have already started to see several players break out at different positions. This new series, “Hot Starts,” will highlight some of the players that have shot out of the gates in these opening weeks.
First off, we have the running backs. These four backs have been workhorses for their respective teams and have shined early.
Sebastien Boyle Sebastien Boyle 5'11" | 210 lbs | RB Scottsbluff | 2024 State NE | Scottsbluff | 5’11” 210 lbs
The top RB in the state has picked up right where he left off with back-to-back 100+ yard games to open up the season. Despite sharing carries with emerging Dual-threat QB Nate Kelley Nate Kelley QB Scottsbluff | 2026 NE , Sebastien has still rushed for 279 yards and three touchdowns. Boyle is a complete back that can run with power, speed, and excellent vision. At 5’11” and 210 pounds, Sebastien is a bulldozer with a non-stop motor. The play that stood out to me started at about the 32-second mark in the clip below, where he continued to drive his legs and move forward with a defender draped on his back before being brought down by 3-4 players. This has been a constant throughout Sebastien’s prep career. Boyle is not just a power back, as he has also displayed great burst and acceleration in the open field. Boyle boasts a 4.53 40-yard time, and it shows on his long runs. Sebastien has offers from Northwestern College, Emporia State, Dordt, Mount Marty, Southwest Minnesota State, Chadron State, and Wayne State, with several other schools also showing interest.
Parker Borer Parker Borer 5'10" | 180 lbs | RB Boone Central | 2024 State NE | Boone Central | 5’10” 180 lbs
Can’t think of a bigger way to make an early season statement than with a monster performance against perennial powerhouse Aurora. Parker Borer Parker Borer 5'10" | 180 lbs | RB Boone Central | 2024 State NE rushed for 202 yards and four touchdowns in their big win, bringing his season totals to 418 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns. The most impressive part of Parker’s hot start is that he is averaging well over 10 yards a carry. Borer is a very smooth runner that can flow through traffic and possesses an incredible eye for finding creases and explosive burst. Very patient runner too— allows his blocks to set up. He is an absolute threat to hit the home run if you allow him to gain the corner, using his reported 4.59 speed to separate from the defenses. You also have to account for Parker’s toughness in between the tackles, as he has no issue dropping the pads to truck defenders in his way. Parker holds offers from Minnesota State-Mankato, Midland, and Wayne State while receiving interest from several other schools. Jump on this guy ASAP!!
Payton Prestito Payton Prestito 5'10" | 185 lbs | RB Papillion-La Vista | 2024 State NE | Papillion La Vista | 5’11” 185 lbs
There’s no doubt Payton has to be up there as one of the toughest runners in the state. Through two games, Payton has rushed for 283 yards and two rushing touchdowns (add in a passing TD) while helping the Monarchs to an impressive 2-0 start. Payton is a gritty between-the-tackles runner with a great cutback ability and vision that helps him find open lanes. He’s proven to be a tough player to bring down once he’s gained momentum and has a super strong base that keeps him upright through contact. Prestito is a super physical runner who won’t hesitate to drive a defender into the dirt with a mean stiff arm or drop his pad level to blow up defenders. One thing people tend to overlook about Payton is his deceptive speed and burst when he’s cleared the second and third levels. Payton holds an offer from Northwestern College but should definitely be receiving more looks!
Able Molina Able Molina 5'9" | 170 lbs | RB Kearney | 2024 State NE | Kearney | 5’910″ 175 lbs
Kearney’s Able Molina Able Molina 5'9" | 170 lbs | RB Kearney | 2024 State NE is one of the biggest breakouts among senior backs. Through two games, Able has already surpassed his rushing totals from last season (136 yards/with 280 rushing yards and five touchdowns so far. Molina is a well-balanced back that possesses both power and speed in his game. In between the tackles, Able is a tough runner who can bounce off of tackle attempts while keeping his feet and eyes moving towards open lanes. He has great twitch that can help him shift his way through traffic. Molina is also a threat when he’s able to hit the corner, cranking on the jets and using his 4.62 speed to break away from defenders. Able’s hard running thus far has helped balance the offense out and open up opportunities in the passing game. Expect the ‘Cats to continue rolling if Able keeps on running how he has been. Hidden gem!
