9/22 6pm at Rutherford
Here we have another battle of undefeated teams in New Jersey. As the weeks move along, one by one will fall until only a handful remain. This Friday we have Becton facing off against Rutherford. Becton has showed its dominance through a stout defense. With one shut out already this season, this team has let up a total of 19 points through 3 games. Those are some impressive numbers. On defense, three playmakers stand out the most. Kristian Fragoso (2 sacks, 1 FF and 1 FR), Steel Grabowski Steel Grabowski DB Becton | 2024 NJ (1 sack and 4 interceptions), and Malakai Ottey Malakai Ottey 5'9" Becton Regional | 2024 NJ (2.5 sacks) have all contributed greatly and have the potential to swing the momentum of the game any time they are on the field. Offensively, Becton relies heavily on the ground game and in particular Jonathan Palsi. Jonathan has racked up 6 touchdowns on the ground and has rushed for 253 yards.
Rutherford is no ordinary opponent. This team blew out their first two opponents and had a high scoring victory against Garfield last weekend. Led by the do it all, junior quarterback Chris Gioma, this offense is hard to stop once they get going. Chris has 9 offensive touchdowns through 3 games and has passed for 312 yards and rushed for nearly 200. Senior Cole Goumas Cole Goumas 5'10" | 180 lbs | DB Rutherford | 2024 NJ is another player you need to look out for on this offense. Cole has big play potential and will be fed the ball more as the season continues. So far, Cole has 4 offensive touchdowns and nearly 250 offensive yards. Look for a battle between this Rutherford offense and Becton’s defense. It may be one of the key matchups of the weekend.
Warren Hills (4-0) vs. Roxbury (4-0)
9/22 7pm at Warren Hills
Warren Hills has been absolutely blowing teams out these past three weeks. A scary rushing attack that is supported by a strong passing unit as well, Warren Hills is a hidden gem in Warren County. Senior Jayden Aziz Jayden Aziz 6'0" | 200 lbs | RB Warren Hills | 2024 NJ is leading the run attack, followed by Dylan Duerring Dylan Duerring 5'11" | 170 lbs | LB Warren Hills | 2025 NJ and Brock Duerring Brock Duerring 5'10" | 160 lbs | LB Warren Hills | 2025 NJ . TJ Kachala TJ Kachala 5'10" | ATH Warren Hills | 2024 NJ is also proving he deserves recognition, as all four runners have accumulated a good amount of carries and have all found the end zone on the ground. Senior QB Josh Lee is also one you need to watch out for on the ground, but also has the ability to hurt a team through the air with his arm talent.
Roxbury is led by Anthony Skawinski Anthony Skawinski 5'6" | 150 lbs | QB Roxbury | 2024 NJ . Anthony has been taking control of games from the QB position and flourishes with the ball in his hands. Anthony’s favorite target, Colin Richter Colin Richter 5'10" | 185 lbs | WR Roxbury | 2024 NJ , has been lighting up defenses. With 4 receiving touchdowns already, don’t be surprised if he were to hit double digits this season. Out of the backfield, Jamani Miller has provided a strong, reliable run attack for the team. Defensively, Jared Irwin Jared Irwin 6'3" | 170 lbs | DB Roxbury | 2024 NJ has been the biggest playmaker for Roxbury. He is averaging an interception per game at this rate. Expect a close game between these two teams with Warren Hills having the slight edge.
