Continue ReadingScheduled to be one of the premier AAA games of the season, Jordan vs. Waseca did not disappoint. Although I had to leave early at half due to inclement weather, the first half boasted tons of talent and crazy plays on both sides of the ball for both teams. I’m pleased to present my game report from Jordan vs. Waseca!
RB: Mason Adamek 5’9″ 150 lbs Jordan 2025
It’s often rare to find a solid backup RB, especially down in the smaller classes. But Amadek provided a nice change of pace when he went in for Siekmann. He has a similar skillset to his counterpart but is slightly more agile and elusive. With a bigger workload, I’d be curious to see how Amadek does.

WR: Brock Bakeberg Brock Bakeberg 6'1" | 190 lbs | WR Jordan | 2024 MN 6’1″ 185 lbs Jordan 2024
Although Bakeberg didn’t put up any TDs or crazy numbers in the first half, he did snag a couple of tough receptions in traffic. He often dragged additional defenders with him when he ran routes and showed off some impressive body control when he brought down balls that appeared out of his catch radius. It helps to have a kid like Bakeberg in your receiving core.

RB: Leo Siekmann Leo Siekmann 6'0" | 190 lbs | RB Jordan | 2024 MN 6′ 185 lbs Jordan 2024
Easily the biggest name coming into this game, Siekmann did not disappoint. He broke off explosive run after explosive run and for a long time was the only thing the Jordan offense had going for them. With his big frame and quick feet, he exploited mismatches at the second level and proved himself again as one of the best RBs in the state.

QB: Graham Helgerson 5’11” 140 lbs Jordan 2026
The sophomore’s game didn’t start great, but he eventually found his rhythm late in the first half. He completed a series of short passes to dice up the Bluejay’s defense and eventually score right before the half. Despite being under pressure on a majority of his dropbacks, Helgerson stood strong and did his best to deliver strikes within the pocket. Another young QB to keep your eye on.

RB: Kaeden Johnson Kaeden Johnson 5'9" | 175 lbs | RB Waseca | 2024 MN 5’9″ 175 lbs Waseca 2024
I had known that Johnson was a good back for a while now, but I was overwhelmed with what I got to witness tonight. Johnson made his presence felt early on. He was slipping out of tackles and breaking off huge gains left and right. His play style could best be described as “elusive”. He can make defenders miss consistently, break arm tackles, and has the speed to capitalize on the defense’s mistakes. Johnson needs offers ASAP.

WR: Damarius Russell Damarius Russell 5'11" | 170 lbs | DB Waseca | 2025 State MN 6′ 170 lbs Waseca 2025
Arguably the best player on the field, Russell blew the lid off during the first half. He boasted both excellent ball-tracking and body control and he reeled in tightly contested catches consistently for big gains. He did his best work outside of the hashes and put on an absolute show against good Jordan corners. I’m all in on the Russell hype train.

QB: Jordan Johnson Jordan Johnson 6'1" | 180 lbs | WR Blaine | 2024 MN 5’10” 170 lbs Waseca 2026
Easily the biggest offensive surprise of the night, Jordan Johnson Jordan Johnson 6'1" | 180 lbs | WR Blaine | 2024 MN made a statement with his play early on. He showed off potential both as a ball-carrier and as a passer. As a ball carrier, he was able to make quick cuts and showed off the vision of an RB. His ability as a passer was equally as astounding. He set his feet fast, had a quick release, and could hit tough back-shoulder passes. Only a sophomore, but if he continues to develop he’s going to be special.
