Continue ReadingRecruits are posting their single game and accumulative first three-game highlight reels of the fall 2023 season. That means it’s time to begin our weekly “Friday Film Room Series” report analysis. In this report, I will preview various recruits with posted fall 2023 season films and briefly analyze what stands out for each recruit. Viewing a recruit’s recent highlight film is one of many tools we use to evaluate. This is how we and many college coaches can get a great feel for each recruit and their potential. These reports include a Hudl video or link for each recruit that is viewed and evaluated. Friday Film Room is a weekly report that will be published each week leading up to the end of the 2023 year.

Film Review Notes: Has a durable frame that can take the punishment. Seen as a downhill 3rd down running back that can be used as a short yardage back at the next level. He can get the tough yards. A raw zone scheme running back that can play “slow to, fast through.” He finishes his runs with good lean and a desire to make the tackler feel his pain. HUDL

Film Review Notes: A very slippery runner. On defense and playing corner, he reacts to run support quickly. He has the ability to make secure open-field field tackles. Flies around on defense fluidly and quickly. He is very difficult to tackle on offense when he is the ball carrier. He makes defenders miss. Gets upfield quickly with the ability to be a home run threat and plays with a motor. He looks to get the YAC each time he makes a catch..

Film Review Notes: On the offensive side of the ball positioned at guard, he gets off the ball with low center of gravity quickly and uses a very good hip unlock to get defenders off balance. Has quick feet and can move left of right laterally and fluidly. He can bend in his stance with his feet in the ground indicating good lower body flexibility. Another solid trait i can see in the film is his power. He can get his second step in the ground quickly and generate power while playing with good leverage. Makes good use of his hands and placement. He can punch effectively and strike through a defensive lineman. HUDL
Devonte Harriott Devonte Harriott 5’9″ | 140 lbs | DB Stratford | 2025 State New E Got a chance to view his single-game highlight film of a game he played on Sept 16, 2023. He is a very good, versatile athlete who can do a lot. On offense, he knows how to find the ball when it’s in the air. Has the body control and balance to adjust and make the difficult catches including the back shoulder catch. Has skills to be in the slot or out wide. Knows how to run effective routes. On defense, he appears to have a sense of ball-hawking ability. He can see the field well and react in zone coverages quickly. He will use his vertical ability to high-top the ball or pluck it out of the air. A bit undersized especially on his body eight but his playmaking abilities can’t be ignored.

A captain of his team and seen with leadership qualities. He is patient and knows how to locate the open running lanes. Has the good desire to be an effective blocker when needed. He shows very good playing strength and ball security. Has obvious fluid movement patterns, loose hips, balance and body control, and elusiveness. Has good process to LOS, ability to one-cut and get vertical, anticipates well, sets up blocks, and ability to process vision quickly. HUDL
