Highlights
McKenna is one of the best prospects across the western region, and the Boise State commit has really gotten off to a hot start to the season, seemingly unblockable coming off the edge with violent hands and consistent pursuit. He has tallied 7.5 sacks through the first four weeks and has shown why he is one of the states top prospects in his class. Although committed to the Broncos, his upside potential and frame make him very intriguing at the power five level, and he could see more interest and potential come his way from that level down the stretch as we near National Signing Day.
DL Heath Schescke, New Plymouth HS ’24
The senior is a long and rangy prospect with good speed/bend off the edge and can get after quarterbacks in a hurry with closing speed and some pass rush moves at his disposal. He can set the edge with heavy inside hands and shows that he can take on bigger blockers/win at the POA with leverage. Through four weeks of play, he has racked up 6.5 sacks and is just behind McKenna for the states leader in sacks through four weeks.
LB Jonathan Burrell, Vallivue HS ’24
Burrell is an active linebacker from the second level, and can fly around and make plays outside the tackles while also showing cover abilities and pass rush abilities from various angles of the defense. He has tallied 6 sacks through the first four weeks of play, and should be a 12+ sack kid by the time the season is over.
DL Weylon Frei, Teton HS ’24
Frei is a bit undersized for the position, but has a relentless motor and closing speed when collapsing the pocket. He has shown that he can be active against both the run and the pass, and has gotten to the quarterback 5+ times through the first four weeks of play. Look for Frei to continue being one of the leaders across Idaho within this category for Teton.
