In my opinion, this past week was the week of the QB. Four of the five players that caught my eye this past week are the signal caller for their respective schools.
Jack Durr Jack Durr 6'1" | 185 lbs | QB Pearl | 2026 State MS | SO | QB | Pearl
Durr led the Pirates to a massive win over Warren Central this past Friday night. He was 14 of 32 for 186 yards and was responsible for two touchdowns on Friday night. Durr’s biggest play came in overtime on a two-point conversion to finalize the win over the Vikings. Durr is off to a great start in his Sophomore season. We will need to keep our eyes on him as the year goes on. He could become one of the better quarterbacks in his class with some improvement.
Ben Picarella Ben Picarella 5'11" | 160 lbs | QB Madison Central | 2026 MS | SO | QB | Madison Central
Picarella is enjoying the start of his Sophomore campaign. He now has two huge wins under his belt as the quarterback of Madison Central. Friday night, Picarella led the Jaguars to a big-time win over Brandon by a final score of 40-26. He was a true General on the field, ensuring the offense ran like a smoothed-oiled machine. He completed 12 of 16 passes for 187 yards and threw Touchdowns.
Brady Clark Brady Clark 6'1" | 175 lbs | QB Central Hinds Academy | 2024 MS | SR | QB | Central Hinds
Madison St. Joseph didn’t have an answer for Clark all night this past Friday. Clark was gashing the Bruins’ defense through the air and the ground. He was responsible for 120 passing yards along with 47 rushing yards and three touchdowns on the night. The Cougars were able to come out on top by the score of 20-14.
Drew Winfun | SO | QB | North Ponotoc
What can you say about Winfun? Besides, look at that kid go! What a show he put on Friday night against Water Valley. The Water Valley defense needed 22 players on the field simultaneously to slow Winfun down. He was everywhere, getting it done any way you could think of. He ran the ball 27 times for 236 yards and five touchdowns. Wait, there is more! He also went 5-8, throwing the ball for 125 yards and two touchdowns to lead North Ponotoc to victory over Water Valley 55-33.
Dylan Lewis | SR | RB | Northwest Rankin
The lone Running Back to make the cut in this second Edition. Lewis was fantastic in the Cougars “upset” win over the Arrows on Friday night. He was dynamic on the field, rushing for 123 yards on 24 carries. He was able to find the endzone one time. Lewis helped the Cougars control the ball all night long. He runs hard and has excellent vision. He knows exactly when to make the perfect cut to escape danger. Lewis is challenging to tackle in the open field.
