Both programs had some tough, gritty, and athletic prospects who are collegiate-level players in their own right and here are some names to be mindful of.
Timothy Boyd
Timothy Boyd
Timothy Boyd | 2025 | ATH | Buda Johnson HS | 5’10 – 180 | vs. Lake Belton HighlightsPlayed CB, punt returner, even some wildcat QB. Good athlete who might project as a SAF at the next level. Self-reports a 4.52 in the 40 yard dash. Flashed good traits and physicality. Looking forward to his midseason highlights.
Warner Erwin | 2025 | C/OG | Buda Johnson HS | 6’1 – 255 | Main HUDL pageBurly, thick OG. Built like an old school fullback and projects as a Center with a D2 – FCS range. However, his long snapping abilities could attract FBS looks. Sports a 3.82 GPA. Tough player, solid athleticism, strong Football IQ.
Highlights
Kael Hatnot
Kael Hatnot
Kael Hatnot | 2025 | RB | Buda Johnson HS | 5’10 – 185 | Main HUDL pageHas the frame to carry over 200 lbs. Patient runner, sets up his blocks well, good vision. Quick-footed and physical RB. Downhill style and flashed ability to bounce it outside. Will lower his shoulder and get positive yards. Good ATH, self-reports a 4.57 – 40 yard dash. Also runs track. In 5 games last season, recorded 28 carries for 193 yards and 2 TDs. Hatnot will be one to watch as the season progresses. His father, Xavier, was a 6’3, 240-pound TE for Middle Tennessee State
Terrance Grant, Jr.
Terrance Grant, Jr.
Terrence Grant, Jr. | 2027 | RB/LB | Buda Johnson HS | 5’11 – 195 | Main HUDL pageNot your typical freshman. Muscular beyond his age and already looks the part. Had 98 yards on 9 carries in his high school debut two weeks ago. Crazy to see the power, balance, size, and twitch combination in a player so young. The three-sport athlete is a legit talent and is already on FBS radars. His father, Terrance, played collegiately at San Jose State and coached WRs at Utah Tech University (FCS) for three seasons.
Kaden Bradshaw
Kaden Bradshaw
Plays LT but projects as an interior OL at next level. I’d like him at Center. Plays with a good, wide base. Shows very good footwork in pulls, pass protection, and working up to 2nd level. Easily mirrors defenders with very good change of direction. Very good use of hands, has some torque, and understands leverage. Love his toughness, physicality, and effort. Was an All-State performer last season and sports an incredible 5.5 GPA. Could see him at an FCS program, fits the Ivy League profile, or would be an ideal PWO candidate at a P5 program with strong academics like Texas or Texas A&M.
Garrett Combs
Garrett Combs
Garrett Combs | 2024 | DL | Lake Belton HS | 6’4 – 260 | Jr. Season HighlightsHis 2022 highlight film is impressive. Big, tough, physical DE with very good athleticism who can do it all. Plays with really good technique, pad level, and great effort. Holds 10 offers from FCS and G5 programs. Very surprised the move-in from Salado does not have any P5 offers yet but that should change very soon. Plays DE, has the frame to grow into a DT, but could possibly be a 280-pound DT/DE combo – only time will tell. Had 12 tackles, 1 TFL, and 1 sack against Johnson. In 2022, totaled 84 tackles, 10 TFLs, and 2 sacks.
Ty Legg
Ty Legg
Ty Legg | 2024 | SAF | Lake Belton HS | 5’10 – 155 | Jr. Season HighlightsTough, twitchy ATH who has played WR, OLB, and SAF. Self-reports a 4.5 – 40 yard dash. Recorded 2 tackles and 1 TFL versus Johnson. In 2022, had 80 tackles, 3 TFLs, 2 sacks, 2 QB hurries, and 1 INT on defense. Offensively, had 20 receptions, 264 yards, and 4 TDs. I’d like to see him at SAF or Big Nickel at the next level. Good tackler who plays with some physicality. Has the frame to add 10-20 pounds.
Adam Walden
Adam Walden
Adam Walden | 2024 | NT/OG | Lake Belton HS | 6’3 – 360 | Jr. Season HighlightsThe massive NT is an intriguing prospect. Simply too powerful to block one-on-one and can easily take/beat double teams. Even at 360, Walden actually has surprisingly solid foot quickness and sneaky athleticism that could definitely improve with better conditioning and changing his body composition. Plays with high pad level but his power is overwhelming at both NT and OG. Had 6 tackles and 1 TFL last week against Johnson. Squats 700 and bench presses 415, so powerlifting might be his future. However, there’s a place for guys like Walden in college football with the right scheme and strength & conditioning staff.
