We are now getting a better understanding of which teams are truly talented, which teams may have had a lucky few weeks, and which teams are looking to improve for next season. I will provide a preview for each week 5 game by conference for the 5A level. Up next is the Northwest Oregon Conference. Each game will have a prediction and highlight some players from each team to watch based on their recent performances.
Important Note: Putnam has forfeited their next two games versus Hillsboro in week 5 and Hood River Valley in week 6. They are planning to resume play in week 7 on the road against Centennial. Hillsboro and Hood River Valley have both been awarded an extra win. Hillsboro now has a record of 4-1, while Hood River Valley has a record of 3-2.
#1 Wilsonville (3-1) @ Hood River Valley (3-2)
Prediction: Wilsonville def. Hood River Valley 49-7.
Wilsonville looks like the clear #1 team in 5A and should have no problem taking care of Hood River this week. Hood River has a solid team, and they may sneak into the playoffs this year, but Wilsonville is on a different level. Kallen Gutridge Kallen Gutridge 6'4" | 195 lbs | QB Wilsonville | 2024 State OR has been a pleasure to watch this season, as he can make any play on the field, either with his arm or his legs. Expect Wilsonville to pull away early in this one.

Southridge (1-3) @ #8 Canby (2-2)
Prediction: Canby def. Southridge 35-7.
Canby is a team starting to hit its stride after dropping the season’s first two games. They shut out #12 Bend last week and should be able to take care of business against Southridge this week. Southridge has struggled significantly since week 1, losing three in a row. They are in a rebuilding year and should be excited if they can keep this game competitive.
Players to watch:
Highlights
Centennial (0-4) @ Forest Grove (1-3)
Prediction: Forest Grove def. Centennial 38-12.
Although the 1-3 record says differently, Forest Grove is a solid team with an exciting offense. I really enjoy watching QB Kaden Hale Kaden Hale 6'3" | 200 lbs | ATH Forest Grove | 2024 State OR play, as he is a bonafide playmaker. Centennial did not play well at all last week in their homecoming game against Hillsboro and will need to step it up if they want a chance against Forest Grove.
