We are now getting a better understanding of which teams are truly talented, which teams may have had a lucky few weeks, and which teams are looking to improve for next season. I will provide a preview for each week four game by conference for the 5A level. Up first this week is the Midwestern League. Each game will have a prediction and highlight some players from each team to watch, based on their recent performances.
South Eugene (2-1) @ #6 Springfield (3-0)
Prediction: Springfield def. South Eugene 49-13.
Springfield has had an impressive start to the year, and they are expected to continue their good performance this week against South Eugene. Connor Dye Connor Dye 5'10" | 170 lbs | RB Springfield | 2024 State OR has been one of the best players in Oregon so far, and the offensive line consisting of Sam Keen Sam Keen 6'3" | 290 lbs | OL Springfield | 2024 State OR and Nate Williams Nate Williams 6'5" | 265 lbs | OL Springfield | 2024 State OR has been dominant. South Eugene will most likely fall to .500 after this week.

#7 Thurston (1-2) @ Crater (0-3)
Prediction: Thurston def. Crater 42-12.
Thurston had a great win last week, beating North Eugene 48-14. They have a talented team but have faced tough opponents so far. However, they cannot underestimate Crater, as they are a strong team despite their record. If Thurston wants their second win, they will have to focus on this game and not look ahead to their match against Springfield next week.

Churchill (0-3) @ Willamette (0-3)
Prediction: Churchill def. Willamette 35-25.
In my opinion, Churchill has a chance to secure their first win this week. Both teams have a great chance of winning, but I am impressed with Churchill’s skilled players. Willamette also has an opportunity to win, but they must bring their A-game.

North Eugene (1-2) @ Eagle Point (1-2)
Prediction: Eagle Point def. North Eugene 36-23.
Eagle Point will have an advantage in the trenches this week due to their superior size, even with North Eugene’s skilled linemen. The key to a North Eugene victory will be an exceptional performance from Kelin Knutson Kelin Knutson 5'10" | 165 lbs | ATH North Eugene | 2024 State OR . I am going to roll with Eagle Point in this one.
