We are now getting a better understanding of which teams are truly talented, which teams may have had a lucky first week, and which teams are looking to improve for next season. I will be providing a preview for each week three game by conference for the 5A level. Up next is the Intermountain Conference. Each game will have a prediction and highlight some players from each team to watch, based on their recent performances.
#2 Summit (1-1) @ (6A) #7 Sherwood (2-0)
Prediction: Sherwood def. Summit 27-21.
In my opinion, the upcoming game could swing in either direction, with the possibility of a one-sided victory for either team. Both teams are highly skilled, but I am confident that Sherwood’s depth will prove to be a deciding factor against Summit. The quarterback duel between Kasen Covert Kasen Covert 6'0" | 185 lbs | QB Sherwood | 2024 State OR and Jimmy Hughes Jimmy Hughes 6'3" | 195 lbs | QB Summit | 2024 State OR , who have both made impressive starts, is something I am particularly looking forward to.

Forest Grove (1-1) @ #5 Mountain View (2-0)
Prediction: Mountain View def. Forest Grove 49-20.
Mountain View has had an impressive start to the year. They dominated Canby in week one and followed it up with a 37-point shutout against Churchill last week. Although I am a fan of Forest Grove QB Kaden Hale Kaden Hale 6'3" | 200 lbs | ATH Forest Grove | 2024 State OR , they will have a difficult challenge going up against Mountain View this week.

Redmond (1-1) @ (4A) Crook County (1-1)
Prediction: Redmond def. Crook County 20-12.
I find this game to be quite intriguing. I particularly enjoy watching Crook County as they have Oregon State commit Eddie Freauff Eddie Freauff 6'4" | 200 lbs | ATH Crook County | 2024 State OR on their team. However, Redmond also boasts D1 talent with Jace Eveland Jace Eveland 6'7" | 300 lbs | OL Redmond | 2025 State OR . In my opinion, the key to this game lies in the dominance of Redmond in the trenches. This will ultimately determine the outcome of the game.
Players to watch:
Bend (1-1) @ Putnam (0-2)
Prediction: Bend def. Putnam 35-6.
Putnam has experienced several losses since last season and is currently struggling, while Bend is expected to surpass their average of 10 points per game and win convincingly.

Caldera (1-1) @ (4A) Madras (1-1)
Prediction: Caldera def. Madras 35-16.
Caldera boasts impressive skill players, while Madras’ strength lies in their linemen. I anticipate an exciting game, but I’m uncertain how Madras will defend against Caldera’s playmakers.

Ridgeview (1-1) @ (6A) McMinnville (2-0)
Prediction: McMinnville def. Ridgeview 37-21.
In my opinion, Ridgeview has the potential to be a surprise team in this year’s 5A playoffs. However, I believe that McMinnville’s talent level is too high for Ridgeview to match. McMinnville’s quarterback, Kane Sullivan Kane Sullivan 6'2" | 185 lbs | QB McMinnville | 2025 State OR , will aim for another clean performance, leading the Grizzlies to a 3-0 record.
